What to do on these rainy days?

Other than shopping and drinking?

Should have added we have friends visiting Playa for the first time, and between the forecasted day-long rains looking for ideas for them. I do see Anomalia and the Cirque du Soleil la Joya

You could go to Plaza las Americas or to one of the new malls on 5th...Or you could go into Cancun for an afternoon....they have some pretty big shopping setups.

Edit: I just saw that you had crossed shopping off your list. Sorry.

Half of the activities are underground. The zip lines and cars are more fun in the rain/mud.

That 3D museum is $37.41 bucks Canadian. More of a high end place. The aquarium is at 18.70 for tourists and 10 bucks for q. roo residents, hate that double standard.

I did the Tonala, Jalisco flea market this morning. It is huge.
Rained here last night but nice today.
Headed to Tlaquepaque for the day.
But all of that won't help you in Playa.
I will return to Playa this Friday. Been touring around the "badlands" of mid central Mexico.

I used to hate the "double standard" as well. Since living here though, it makes perfect sense and I now fully support it.

1) Some of my friends make about $10 a day, so even at discounted prices, they're still paying a huge amount to partake in the activities in their neighborhood.

2) Since I pay less, I'm willing to try out a lot of places I would otherwise never go. For businesses, that means they get some business during the low season, but more importantly, it means I'm more likely to bring people to them when my friends/family visit.

There are two economies here. The dollar economy and the peso economy. Those of us who work (some by choice but most not) in the peso economy cannot afford the prices set for the dollar economy. So, at certain times of the year (for most places, low season), those of us who work in the peso economy are given a chance to enjoy the places where our friends and neighbors work. Otherwise, we don't go. These prices allow some places to maintain employment in the off-season for those who might normally be laid off. There is no double standard. You are always welcome to move here and look for a job in the peso economy.

Tonala is huge! We spent a night at a hotel near there before taking a bus to San Miguel de Allende once. Did not make it to Tlaquepaque, but I like the way the name rolls off the tongue.
