****** Wedding Fiasco!! Help!!
We arranged to have our Sat May29th Wedding reception at the ******. I took a scouting trip down to Playa del Carmen and met with the food and beverage manager. We had discussed and confirmed almost all the details in person and via email.
I just got an email TODAY telling me he no longer works there and he was the only one who knew of our reservation . In addition, they have another party booked in our location!! Does anyone know any ****** management I could escalate this situation to. Or have any suggestions. Help!! |

Corleone - See quote below and also comments from Carmen as to her wedding planner - may be of some help to you. Any luck with the email to ******?
QUOTE=Dawn]I was married in Playa in February and we used an outside Wedding Co-ordinator. They did an amazing job with our Wedding, everything was perfect!! We were married at Xcaret, and had our reception back at our hotel (Riu Yucatan). They did everything for us, transportation from hotel to Xcaret and back, to the Flowers, and the Photographer. This is a great company to deal with, their web-site is www.weddingsincancun.com GOOD LUCK[/quote] |

Corleone -
I thought Momof3 has a good idea to give you specific web alternatives. I recalled seeing a glowing review of a wedding photographer who might be particularly knowledgeable of options you might consider. Quote below (note website and referring individual's email contacts below). Maybe it will help you. Good luck,Weave "I decided to hire Claudia Rodriguez as my wedding photographer. She is an absolute delight to work with. I emailed her many times and she always responded in record time. I was extremely impressed with her portfolio and references. We set a date to meet 45 minutes before the wedding and she was very punctual. This is one extremely patient lady. When she arrived, I wasn't ready at all! I didn't even have my makeup on, nor was I dressed. She sat with the other women in our suite and enjoyed refreshments while we girls got our act together. She never seemed annoyed; instead she was very calm and pleasant with everyone asking her questions about her work. This totally amazed me. After the wedding ceremony, she brought us all down to the beach to take some shots. Once again, her patience was tested. She would ask us to pose a certain way and then our family and friends kept getting in the way and taking tons of pictures. She never asked them to stop or move. She simply waited until they were done and then she would continue to work. If it were me, I would have been mildly annoyed. We took a lot of shots near the beach, palm trees and flamingo pond. She delivered us the pictures 10 days after the wedding at the resort. When I saw them, I started to cry. They were so beautiful; it was like a scene out of a movie. She gave us a lot more pictures in a really nice album, than we had agreed on. On top of all that, we got to keep all the negatives as well. We chose package #2 which was only $550 US. After seeing what she gave us, this package would of cost me well over $1500 CAN. If anyone wants more information as to what she offered us, I'd be happy to help you. Her website is http://my-cancun-wedding.com/claudia/home.html . I recommend her to all Cancun, Mayan Riviera, Playa Del Carmen and the surrounding area brides to hire her for your wedding pictures. You only get married once and if you're doing it in a setting like Mexico, she will make your head spin with her pictures. You can view some of the pictures she took of us at http://community.webshots.com/user/brun0048 . This lady is truly remarkable and I will forever be grateful for her services. There's some fishy stuff going on at the ******. We were there from the 5th to the 14th and a bartender who we are friendly with from our last several trips told us that there was a big uproar among the staff due to wholesale management and staff changes that were under way.
He indicated that Rick (who I understand to be the owner of the business but not the property) had hired a new General Manager - a French Guy - and that the new GM had fired a lot of long time employees. It sounded like the entire staff was in an uproar. During the time we were there, Rick was supposed to have been in the US. We also noted that the quality of the BP property and service had degraded noticably since our last stay last November. We were without hot water for most of the stay, and without any kind of water on a consistant basis. The restaurant service was lousy (imagine that) and there just didn't seem to be as many staff available as in past visits. By the way, while we were there, there was a big wedding reception at the BP restaurant on the 8th, so they are still getting it done, just with a lot of confusion I guess. |

Hotel Las Palapas maybe?
When were staying at Hotel Las Palapas a few weeks ago there was a nice wedding on the beach and small reception following. It looked like they had set it up nicely and there seemed to be a good number of hotel staff there to wait on people.
