Thanksgiving 2017

We had our "friendsgiving" yesterday - lots of Turkey, adult drinks and fun.

Saints were on TV but I did not watch

Looking forward to the real Thanksgiving on the family ranch in a few weeks....

Tonight is leftover Turkey/Wild rice soup (new recipe) - I made my own stock ! Hope it turns out.

What is everyone planning for the holidaze ?

Kids and grands are coming into town. Sandy will make her usual awesomeness. I will over indulge and watch football.

The Friday after, we will go to our usual Friday night Italian joint. Our entire circle of friends, their kids and their kids will all be there. 3 generations (sometimes 4) show up and we take up half the restaurant! Chaotic...but, fun.

We always go to Steve's cousin's house, usually a largish crowd, fun times, good food!

I'll be in Florida, we have friends down there, and my oldest daughter is coming down. Hubs arrives day after Thanksgiving (he still spends the day with his 96 year old mom...year after year we think it's the last...) - and then we do the feast on Saturday. It's great, usually nice enough to eat outside, do the turkey in the infrared fryer which takes ONE HOUR, and watch the ND-Stanford game.

On Thursday, I, my daughter, and close friend couple will be eating out somewhere waterfront....probably in the 75 degree weather or so.

I'm thinking stone crab claws. Tis the season!!!

Love it.

That sounds really fun! What's that like?
We will be driving down to WI to visit our Women's-Temperance-no-alcohol-in-the-house daughter.
Get together with the few relatives I have left from my side of the family near Milwaukee. Luckily, it's held at my cousin's house where drinking is still encouraged....., uh,....allowed.

ETA: One year we spent Thanksgiving in the Milwaukee Children's Hospital because our grandson was (Wrongly, thank God) diagnosed with Leukemia. Talk about a Thanksgiving to be thankful!!

I work. Then, I go home and tell my wife and kids how thankful I am. Pretty much wraps it up.

Mostly family, food and fun - it means more now that I am older. and yes Thankful ! Last year we spent the better part of 2 days harvesting a bumper pecan crop (it really was fun and $$)

(the best part for me is the star gazing platform my BIL built - we get the telescope out)

Thursday - hope to have our children over for a turkey dinner. Two of the children are in retail so it might be tough.
Friday - to Bonny's mom's house to do it all over again.
Saturday - puke

Different than the previous 20+ years where Bonny and I usually went to the camping in the desert.

Pat's niece and husband will be here Wednesday thru Sunday. A good friend/coworker will be here for Thanksgiving dinner if her husband who is working in Ohio/PA can't make it home.
