Home automation

Just curious if anyone is doing anything interesting around Home automation in PDC?

I have only just started doing a bit in PDC. Just curious if anyone is doing anything interesting?

So far I have a Veralite Zwave controller (left over from my Vera edge upgrade in Canada) and I have the Kwikset 910 zwave Deadbolt so I can lock unlock the door remotely or assign up to 30 codes to the deadbolt. Even put days/times become active and disable? Maid comes by Wednesday between 9-Noon her codes are only active during that time? Renters/Visitors? Put the code in for the duration of their visit and disable it when they're gone. Super convenient. We had a contractor come by we put in his code to let himself in in-case we weren't home no need to worry about keys being cut and lost or forgotten to be given back.

We also put magnetic zwave sensors on all our doors and windows so when the vera is in away mode if any of the Window or doors are opened I'll get an email obviously there's not much I can do be I can at least have a friend stop by and see if something is going on. But the goal is to tie it into my AC (more about that in a sec)

My Ac units have been automated by Flair pucks www.flair.co they are a really neat device that just officially launched this fall. They connect to wifi and have IR on them so they can turn your AC unit on and off remotely and report stuff like humidity and temperature.

So the tie in between the Doors/Windows and flair. In case I have a visitor that decides to open the doors/windows with the AC on. I'm working on a workflow the will see the magnetic trigger and say if the doors/Windows have been open for more than 5 minutes the to turn off all the AC units in the house as I don't want to air condition the outside world.

Also once my visitor leaves during the door pin code voiding procedure it will again check to make sure all the AC units are off.

I also am writing a workflow to turn on each AC unit in the house on for 1 hour a week verify the unit is working and turning back off. And emailing me a report showing the starting temp/humidity of each room and the ending temp/humidity of each room so I can verify each AC unit is working correctly.

I've got more in the works but that's where I'm sitting right now.

I'd love to hear if anyone else is doing any interesting HA stuff.

I agree - he sounds like an asshole, fully-automated.

Just ignore him. He's trying to be funny, but he's not very bright, so his attempts at humor fail.

Why don't you introduce yourself properly here on the forum? Or should I do it for you?
Please feel free, although it's already been attempted by another asshole (a local doctor) who tried the same thing ten years back on this forum. I have the strong feeling I'll be meeting you soon. Good luck.

Edited to add:

Making false statements about a physician is libel on its face (i.e., in essence, no further proof is necessary). The local doctor who previously made similar remarks is a Mexican citizen living in Mexico, and is outside the jurisdiction of US courts. You, on the other hand (if you are a US citizen) are subject on your return through customs to the jurisdiction of any order issued by any court in the US. In addition you are in violation of this forum's service provider agreement (the service provider is a US-based company). You may want to reconsider your approach.

However, I found a nice little article about you and it's my obligation to share it with everybody here. Since you are offering your medical services to people on the forum and in local supermakets and you're not even allowed to practice anymore, due to beeing a pervert. Morover you don't have a licence in Mexico either. It is my duty to share this with everybody who doesn't know yet.

You moron.

He has, in the past, offered full disclosure on this very forum.

As per usual, you're "shooting off your mouth" while possessing incomplete and/or inaccurate information.

You'll have to study really, really hard, but see if you can't reach the normal threshold on an abbreviated Stanford-Binet in 2018.

The first article says what I said. The second article is a Google translation of the usual uninformed hyperbole from one of the local Mexican tabloids regarding my arrest in 2008 arranged by Dr. Diez in retaliation for my questioning his barbaric unnecessary medical treatment of an infant, as I described above. The photo accompanied the second article, and shows me opening my gate at my home, and was taken by the previously-described Dr. Diez, who followed me home and creeped my house after physically assaulting me in a meeting with my employer, Dr. Miguel Sanchez at Clinica UMI in 2008, who had just explained to Dr. Diez that no license is required for physicians working by invitation under the direction of a Mexican physician, as I was, which aggravated Dr. Diez's already disturbed emotional flux. The "planted" foreign patient referred to in the second article regarding my arrest was Sharon Lewis, a Canadian resident of Playa, who later apologized to me and explained that she participated because the cops asked her to, based on Dr. Diez's false allegations. You can ask her about my exam and treatment. When the allegations made to the police by Dr. Diez that resulted in my arrest were shown to be false, I was released. As for you, we will be meeting sooner than I thought.
