Smokehouse is open!

Tonight we had dinner at the Smokehouse Calle 8 between 10 and 15. They have recently opened and are working out a few kinks, we left with full bellies and smiles on our faces. All the best to Harry, Maria and all those involved.

Three of us ate at the Smokehouse today for lunch. Two of us have been in the food service industry. Needless to say, none of us will be in any rush to go eat there again anytime soon. Chaos and disorder were on the menu today. Opening pains???........I sure hope so.
Unlike MsNSol, I assure you that none of us left with any smiles on our faces. Lots and lots of kinks need to be worked out.

The location is across the street and closer to Av 15. You cannot miss it if you go to the old place the sign is big.
Too bad about your experience Al. I generally do not go to a new place in the first few weeks......I made a exception as has been chatting with Harry for the past few weeks.

My bf and I went last night. Service and ambiance were good. I like the look and the styling of the restaurant. Waiters were attentive and friendly. However, I´m not sure I would be in a rush to eat their again, although I do want to try their ribs. My bf ordered a burger and I had a chicken burrito bowl. His fries were undercooked and he said the burger was meh. My chicken burrito bowl had very little chicken and was tasteless, with the exception of the odd, almost sour taste, of the rice.

Has anyone tried their ribs?

Yes, both of my friends had the ribs yesterday. "St. Louis style pork ribs"....not even close. These were the very ends of the ribs, no bones, only cartilage and gristle. My friends described them as under cooked and impossible to cut with the knife supplied. Both had to have the cook separate the "ribs" so that they could try to eat them. My pulled pork had no semblance of any pulled pork that I have eaten in Mexico. Caesar salad.....I guess that they have never had a Caesar salad- no resemblance to a Caesar salad whatsoever. And to top that off, the waiter was either untrained or he should look for another profession.
The above is about the best that I can say about the place. Usually, having been the restaurant and bar business for many years, I will give a place a second chance. Not sure after yesterday's experience (and it was an experience), that I will give the Smokehouse a second chance.

Ok. Note to self, not in a rush to try the ribs.

Al, you looked a little flustered when I saw you there. Glad I decided to go elsewhere. Thanks for your expert review!

Dan, I can tell you that a friend of mine spoke with Harry last night and he said to my friend "that he might have made a mistake". I know what he is referring to and everyone can interpret it was they want. When I see you next, I will tell you exactly what I believe that he meant.
By the way, what were you doing uptown?
