Sanctuary City

Any thoughts about this after the recent verdict in San Fran ? Should the US defund them ?

Of course then you have this -

Is this court order still in place?

Quote:
A federal judge permanently blocked President Donald Trump’s executive order to cut funding from so-called ‘sanctuary cities’ Monday.

The injunction comes after a similar ruling earlier this year, which resulted in a temporary hold on the order which targeted ‘sanctuary cities’ (a city that withholds cooperation with federal efforts to enforce immigration law). The Trump administration appealed the decision to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, according to The Hill. U.S. District Court Judge William Orrick rejected the administration’s claims that the executive order was relevant to a relatively small amount of money, saying Trump cannot set new conditions on spending that has been approved by Congress.

I hear the justice department is looking into federal charges against the murderer. That is a good thing.

As heinous as this was, I think society only helped the verdict. Once again, we prosecuted in the media before the trial.

I'm not saying he's innocent. But, we seem to have a knack for screwing up the justice system.

Do you think the verdict would have been different if it was in another state ?

Very possibly. I think there was some degree of thumbing their nose at the whole "No Sanctuary" and Illegal Immigration sentiments.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas has put out a new arrest warrant for Jose Inez Garcia Zarate, the multiple-felon illegal alien just acquitted of murder in the death of Kate Steinle.

he needs to do some time for this -because if they deport him he will just come back, as he has done countless times before.

I wonder how the jury felt when they found out after the fact about his felonys !

It is odd that all the usual liberal posters are silent on this subject.

A couple of them will speak up now that you've mentioned it. And actually, it isn't odd at all.

Why is it odd? Why is the murder of a young woman political to you?

It is not political to me, just tragic. Unfortunately the man was not convicted because of the failure of the prosecution to make it’s case. It is political to you because you have been told it should be.

Nope - not sure how got that opinion, you could not be more wrong..... just feel for the family -no justice because San Fran failed to follow the law.

So I take it you support the sanctuary cities and not turning over this criminal ?

You have no ****ing idea why I think what I think or how I form my opinions. And I have no idea why you fail to think at all.

You made it political here, and that is a fact. We all feel for what happened to the young lady.

I do not think my local police force should be agents for ICE.
