****** or Hotel La Tortuga
I am making hotel reservations. Which hotel (****** or Hotel La Tortuga) would be the best choice? I can have a deluxe room at the
****** or a swim-up room at Hotel La Tortuga. I have been to Playa many times but not stayed in the downtown area. :ponder: Last edited by starfirer : 05-19-2004 at 10:19 AM. |

I loved Tortuga, wife and I stayed there last November and loved it. We've stayed in many places in Playa but without being fancy, this one had something special about it we just loved. The staff are great and your stay will come with breakfast which is also great.
We stayed in a suite with a roof top jaccuzi, very cool. Send me a email and ill forward you some Totuga pics if you're interested. Cheers |

If you are going anytime real soon you may want to check to see if they are done with the construction at La Tortuga. We had reservations there two weeks ago but when we got there construction at the hotel prevented us from staying there (the pool was even drained). I noticed on Sunseekers trip report they were supposed to stay there and had to change due to construction there.

as the others have stated - depends on what you want - beach or not. of course, the construction issue is definitely a worry, but, as i read on a different post about wedding issues, it seems the ****** is having some staffing issues. We were at La Tortuga in November and loved it, especially the breakfast each morning. We are returning in August and are staying at Playa Maya this time as we would like to be on the beach and we have heard such great things about it from other posters and Steve the manager seems to be on top of everything...whatever you decide, have a great time...

it was actually Posada Freud that we stayed at for a couple of days, the hotel and staff were great ,it was the noise from construction in front of Posada that was a minor issue for me.I would stay at Posada again and they were very understanding when we told them we were moving and before we even got out why we were moving they said " we know it's the construction!"

Greek2Me, when we wre down a couple weeks ago we noticed the balcony over-looking 5th Ave. at Posada Freud. At first I wasn't sure that was part of the hotel but obviously it is. The balcony looked cool with the hammock etc.. Looks like from your pics that is the room where you stayed? We may try that one out for a night or two on our next trip down, that is if the construction is done which it should be....
