They are coming..........

From today's Riviera Maya News:

"OVER 5 MILLION AIRLINE SEATS SCHEDULED FOR CANCUN THIS WINTER
DECEMBER 16, 2017 LAUREL DELP
Cancun., Q.R. — Cancun is considered one of the main tourist destinations, not only in the country, but the world already receiving 22 million passengers with another 5.1 million airline seats set to land at the Cancun International Airport.
Despite a travel warning and active hurricane season, the flow of visitors to Cancun was not deterred. The 22 million visitors received represent an increase of 11 percent compared to the same period of 2016. On average, about 70,000 visitors per day land at the airport from more than 170 airports around the world.
Remberto Estrada, mayor of Cancun, says they are consolidating itself as a world class destination, and since tourism is the main industry in the region, the Municipality has strengthened efforts to promote strategies that promote entrepreneurship, innovation and employment.
Figures from the Official Airline Guide for the winter season 2017-2018 show 5.1 million airline seats are scheduled from airports around the world to land at Cancun this winter. These figures represent an 8 percent increase over the winter season of 2016.
With the inauguration of Terminal 4, the airport’s capacity increased to be able to handle 9 million passengers per day, an annual figure of around 30 million travelers.
While some seasonal travelers have already been to arrive, the city is prepared for the flood of travelers who are looking to spend their holiday along the coast of Quintana Roo."

OK, so when you leave (Buen Viage!), 22,000,000 - 2 = 21,999,998.
And then when you return (Bienvenidos!), 19,999,998 + 2 = 22,000,000.
So it all evens out in the end. Safe journey.

Absolutely nothing to do with the topic.

Despite all the dire warnings of Acapulco, business appears to be booming. Traffic sure sucks, that's for sure.

We have friends who go to Acapulco on a regular basis. They love the value they get there.

Not that Acapulco had anything to do with the topic .)

If you are talking about the traffic in Playa these days.........ain't that the truth!
Gridlock streets all over the downtown area at certain times. I know one of the contributing factors that has traffic all screwed up is the military display at the Municipal Palace (which I believe wraps up manana after a month), the road construction and sidewalk revamping on Juarez, the digging up of streets all over town by Aguakan and so on. Add a bunch more tourists driving about lost to the mix and .
I will keep walking
BTW, it looks like Playa sometime in 2018 will be putting parking meters at least into the downtown area.
