car rental

Okay not intending to get anyone riled. Opinions are just that...opinions. Wondering if anyone know of Price Car Rental and the good, the bad and the ugly.

I loathe the bait and switch, and false advertising crap. Surprise!!! What looked like such a good price magically went away when it was time to pay the bill. That alone drove me away from several of these rental car agencies.

Just one of the reasons why I stick with Avant. The price they quoted is the price I'll pay, right down to the peso. No bullshit surprises.

Does Avant have a pick up and drop location in Playa del Carmen. If so, where? or do you have to pay the $35. delivery charge...both ways? Can't seem to determine that from their site. I have requested a quote from them.
Thank you all. The information you have all provided is very helpful.

Click on policies. It's there. Or call them toll free from US or Canada. Since you requested a quote from them, I have to assume you asked this in their comments/questions box. Wait for their reply and let us know what you learned.

Just to report my experience with my favorite, America, on Sat. picked up a car in Playa, after taking bus from airport, took 20 min. for them to get me at the bus station (slightly annoying), and then a few minutes in their office for the paperwork. Got a just-washed, sweet little Chevy manual Matiz, full tank of gas (miracle), got a 5% discount for being a frequent customer, $21/day with full insurance (but not glass/tires). You get 1 free day for each 7-days' rental. Gotta remember to get the quote in pesos not dollars. I'll drop it in Tulum and they'll drive me back to Akumal; I tip the driver for doing that. I avoid their Cancun airport office if I can arrive before the Playa office closes.

You have to pay the $35 charge. It will be shown, and included when they send you the quote.

Since your quote is in pesos, how do you know the cost will be $21/day?

Well, I'm a bookkeeper, so I know how to check my credit card account charge, which appeared in dollars at the current exchange rate, and divided by the number of days. Wallah ... it was $21 US per day.
ETA: America is using an exchange of 15, so reserving in pesos always will be better, as long as the exchange is more than 15; at this moment it's 18.61.

I went to America in Playa (26) today. They offered me a small manual car for $100.00 us for 2 days. Went a little further north to PRICE and they offered a slightly larger car...still a manual for 1600 pesos or 90 us.
Again anyone used or know about PRICE car rental.

Yep, America is always cheaper reserving online rather than in person. I don't know your dates but for 2 days, say Jan. 31 through Feb. 2, the tiny manual Chevy Matiz shows up online as being 960 pesos, or $51.59 US at the exchange of 18.61, if you use a credit card, with no foreign exchange fee.

Yes, huge difference reserving on line, and getting quote in Pesos. We reserved a golf sedan, manual, for 9 days in February for $28 per day.
