Best Store for Basic Household Items

Hi everyone, we finally moved in to our 6 month rental. Where would you suggest is the best place to buy some basic things like bed sheets, towels, small kitchen tools?

Chedraui, Soriana, Walmart, Liverpool? We do not have a Sams Club membership.

Can’t beat WalMart...but Chedraui and Soriana might be less expensive.

Don’t forget Mega. They have a nice selection of glassware and dishes.

We've found much of our stuff at Sam's, we have a membership in the States which works here except we cannot order online unless we apply here (which is much cheaper. But we own a home and we're buying bigger items. Bed sheets were the hardest to find. We did buy one king set at a newer store on 307 (name escapes me), pricey but we needed them and they are the best quality we've seen here, we bought others (king, queen, and singles) in the States due to limited choices here. But you will find all of the other items at the stores you mentioned, you just need to shop to find what suits you best.

If you want higher quality cotton with higher thread counts (and are willing to pay more) then definitely Liverpool.

Why Google Chrome?

Is it merely your preference for a browser?

Shopping update:

We started at Liverpool since we have never been and wanted to check it out. Seems to be the most expensive of all the options. We wanted to spend less since we are not buying for long term (still testing out the idea of living here long term). Next, we stopped at Soriana and bought most things we needed there. However, they did not have everything we were looking for, so ended up also going to Walmart. We were very impressed! Haven't been to this Walmart in years and never really went to one in the states. Wish we had done all our shopping here! Cheapest prices we saw for household goods and other things like sunscreen.

I guess it depends on what your looking for and also the definition household goods. If you want quality and a full selection of things for your home you go to Liverpool ! If you want a cheap set of kitchen utensils go to Walmart. Walmart sells junk that's what they do so they look the cheapest!

I see. Do not need the translation, but I think some other browsers may do that also.

Liverpool is a more upscale department store - the Cadillac in Playa Del Carmen - but Walmart and Sam's are great sources for a lot of stuff. We bought all of our appliances at Liverpool during one off the big sales but we haven't bought much else there.
WalMart, Mega, Costco and Chedraui we do spend most of our pesos at!

And right now we are finding much better quality in other household items at Sam's and Costco than at Liverpool so Liverpool is not always the best even though the most expensive...

The newer bedding store on 307 I mentioned is Home Decor and More just north of Arco Vial. Also a bit pricey, but high thread counts if that's what you are after and Liverpool's selection doesn't help you.

Sheets. Argh. We definitely bring ours down from the US.

Sams does have good pillows and mattresses though...

We had all of our beds made, and after experiencing them at resorts we wanted the amazing Dream Maker mattress from Carreiro on 307 and had them delivered but they were the longer length and we had to return them - forgot to check that We then searched everywhere from Telebodego to Liverpool and finally bought mattresses and pillows at Sam's for 4 beds, very comfy! We added some nicer pillows from Costco later. But yes, we also bring additional bed sets from the US - much better selection and pricing.

I always bring sheets, and towels, as I am a sheet and towel snob. But last year I bought some sheets at Sam’s Club, and they are great. I check every time I go now, but haven’t had them yet, this year. Have them in individual, king, and other colors, but I want Queen, White. Will continue to check, as I am not in need right away.

I buy a new pillow every year at Liverpool, as they have the firm gusset pillows, which I like, and haven’t found as nice of ones anywhere else. Always on sale.
