The data is there, but I can't seem to be able to view it on me pc. All my other word files open normally-except for these particular files, all named "warrant 2345xx" (each file name begins with "warrant" then has a unique of numbers, i.e "warrant 2341, warrant 45629 and so forth), and all in different folders, and many of them unmodified for months/years. I tried opening these files with wordpad-again nothing. I tried opening with notepad, and I get a page of garbled text (as I'd expect it to be in notepad, but it does show me that there's data there). I've retrieved some from old email attachments-no luck. I've taken them to the other pc, edited them, then renamed-still no luck. I tried storing them as .txt instead of .doc-still no joy.
This is beginning to trigger a psychotic episode-can anyone point me to a fix?

Tom, I'm not a WORD expert, but is it possible these .docs use some kind of character set or font that the version of WORD on your PC can't display? What is the data? When you copy it and move it to another workstation and open it there, does it display with any kind of formatting?
Anyway, I've PM'd you the work email -- send me one or two in the AM and I'll see what the experts say. Please put something in the subject line that lets me know what it is so I can distinguish it from garbage.
