Just A Drinking Trip : Day 2

Day 2: I woke up in Playa at 7:00 a.m…. so Day 2 starts on a positive note … then the reality sets in quick…

Hey Dumbass, you dropped $600 drinking money on 5th Av. last nite!!! Lil Irish Looking Girl (LILG) wakes up hungry, and I need a caffeine fix, so it’s off to Java Joe’s

.
Grab some coffee , take a drink and LILG pops off with “Maybe we should check with the police and see if they found your wallet”

… after clearing my sinuses with coffee spray, I’m wide awake now. Stumbled into the Unnamed Restaurant next door to Joe’s and had what I think was supposed to be breakfast

… not quite sure and it didn’t matter that much at that point. Back to the room and I’m thinking “Man, I’m not that stupid… couldn’t have dropped my wallet…. Not exactly a prime target for a pickpocket… I’m gonna tear the room apart ONE MORE TIME.” Grab the mattress and yank it up…He Shoots, He Scores !!! There’s my wallet stuck between the mattress and wall … I’m not a dumbass anymore!!! In fact, I’m of scot free … it’s a joyous day for GuyKind , cause now it’s LILG’s fault for throwing me down on the bed !!! Yes guys, we won a small victory this morning… must savor for as long as our short term memories will allow!

Jump in the car and cruise down to Casa Cenote to kick off the PlayaInfo bash with some beach BBQ. Get to CC and smell the BBQ immediately, ribs action today. We meet Gary’s bud Brad, he’s watching the place so Gary could jet to Texas for a break.
Brad swears he’ll “Keep an eye” on the bottle of Crown we brought Gary, I thought about it for 1/100 of a second and said “Naaah, screw him, we’ll keep it !!!”. Wasn’t long and the “PlayaCrew” arrived…Tyra, Trish, Barb, Michael Holmes & the Nikon D70 ( not a band !), and “Susie in Paamul” (very sweet lady, the locals better be nice to her, Don’t make me come down there!!!). McKinzie is a no show…

got lost and ended up at our amigo Lalo’s place, oh well, it’s a good place to be lost. It took about 2 minutes to figure out this was gonna be an interesting party day…. Good mix of some very cool people. Chowed on BBQ ribs and beers for a few hours then everyone split to get ready for the party at Villa Flamboyan…. Except for me and LILG, we have to stop and see our old friend Lalo for a little while.
A few minutes later, we’re at “Oscar y Lalos” and are relieved to see no evidence of construction on the bay, still as beautiful as always. All the staff smile and wave as Lalo blasts us once again for wasting money on a hotel when we could stay at his ranch. Lalo invites us to have dinner w/ his family and we get to meet another one of his many daughters & son-in-laws and grand-daughter Fara (ultra cute !!!), and his brother Raymon show up a few minutes later. I realize we’re on our way to a dinner party but there’s no way I can turn Lalo down, especially when I find out we’ll be having mayan and chipotle venison tacos for dinner !!! OK guys, Texas boy goes to heaven… sittin on the beach in Mexico with old friends, checkin out one of the most stress-relieving views in the world and macking down on chipotle venison tacos… Yes, LIFE IS GOOOOOD !!!.

It’s always hard for us to leave Lalos, but this time was especially difficult cause little Fara had completely wrapped LILG around her fingers… and while watching another sunset at Bahias de Punta Soliman, we said our goodbyes and crusied back to Playa (but we did promise to return for another dinner in 15 weeks ! )
Back to Posada Frued, grab a quick shower and shave and I’m off to do some Don Julio shots w/ Carlos

while LILG goes thru the “I’m almost ready” routine… during my third round of “2 for 1” shots, LILG wanders down, loooooking goooood as always

… Carlos explains that I’m a very lucky man, I agree, no room to argue there… and it’s off to find something called a “taxi”

… Now I don’t have any experience with these taxi critters, but I have seen how to catch one on TV… so once I spied a group of small cars with guys in white uniforms at the corner of 10th, I figured I must have stumbled onto a whole herd !!! Stopped, put my right hand high in the air and screamed “TAAAAAAXXXIIIII !!!!”… those guys in the white uniforms can jump pretty damn high when you scare them !!! We jump into the cab and now the fun begins:
“Where you go ??”
“Fishermans in Playacar”
“Feeeeeshermens… Playacar???”
“Si, you no saavy Fishermans in Playacar???”
“Si, Feeeeeshermens, Playacar”
Ok guys, I skateboarded for almost twenty years, I’ve caught rattlesnakes, alligators and Javelina by hand…Hell, I even lived in Kansas for 5 years (sorry Howard)!!! … none of these things prepared me for this 4 minute white knuckle thrill ride to the Villa Flamboyan. While I was telling myself “It’s only a movie, It’s only a movie”, the driver kept asking at every intersection
“Feeeeeshermens ??? ”
“Si, Fishermans”
“Feeeeeeshermens ???”
“Si, un villa en el lado sur de Feeeeeeeshermans”
“OOOhhh, Si !!!”
“Ok, you said you saavied Feeeeshermans, so what’s the freakin problem here amigo ???”
“Hay no problemo”
“Da bueno”
The cabby questions cease at this point and then we arrive at our destination in one piece.
Thru the front door of Villa flamboyant and the party’s already in full happening, the aforementioned “PlayaCrew” is there as well as Michaels sweet wife Rosa, Lynn and her daughter (??? Can’t remember 4 sure)…. And there’s the wanted man…. It’s McKinzie… LILG pounces on him immediately to discuss our $57 lunch bill at Playa Maya the day before…. Kinz was no match, LILG took Kinz for 200 pesos before the poor boy realized what was happening , that left us with a 120 peso net profit for one bucket of beer… not a bad rate of return for a 24 hour investment !!! Got the grand tour of the villa by Michael… simply awesome place, especially the BBQ grill which was loaded with steaks. Gotta give it up to Mr Holmes, for an Englishman, he does a damn good job on the grill !!! After a great dinner, I pull the cork on the Chinaco and step on the accelerator

… Kinz got caught up dancing with the women, LILG got some serious Salsa lesson from Rosa, Michael broke in the Nikon D70, and I discussed Tequila w/ my new shootin friend Barb

(gotta bring her a bottle of 1921 next time) and hung out with my new girlfriends TYYYYYYYYRRRRRAAA & Trish !!!. Didn’t take long for the Chinaco to run dry, so Michael breaks out his Cuervo Tradicional and we keep going… it’s at this point that I notice Kinz is sitting in one of those deceptive “spinning” chairs and looking kinda green at the gills

, so me and Michael decide that more Tequila shots would cure his ills … I guess it was a proper diagnosis, wasn’t 2 minutes longer and his Kinz’s eyes started to glaze over… he must be OK now

. Party starts to wind down even though it appears that Rosa and LILG could Salsa all nite. Michael and Rosa walk us next door to Feeeeeshermens where Rosa flirts w/ the guards and gets them to call us a cab. Taxi arrives and we toss McKinzie in the front seat cause he’s mumbling in some foreign language (

) “ Shaaaaaaw maaaaan haaaaaaaawwww, Shaaaaaaw maaaaan haaaaaaaawwww !!!” The cabby gives me a strange look , I shrug my shoulders, tell him where we’re going, and we’re off … after 60 seconds of hearing Kinz repeat “ Shaaaaaaw maaaaan haaaaaaaawwww, Shaaaaaaw maaaaan haaaaaaaawwww !!!”, I just can’t take it anymore so we toss him out near the entry to Playacar…. Adios Amigo !!! Our new cabby was a much better driver but he tried to take us on the “stupid drunken tourist roundtrip ride thru Playa” tour… not wanting to play the game at this point, I just told him

‘Turn this f….. cab around and take me to 5th and 10th … NOW !!! ”

… His comprehension of English was truly amazing at this point and in less than 2 seconds, the taxi was heading in the right direction again.
Open the door to our room and LILG steps in, falls to her left onto the futon and she’s out for the count….. Day 2 comes to an end… one of those “Top 10” days that won’t ever be forgotten… old friends, new friends, bottle of Chinaco…. found my wallet and had chipotle venison tacos on the beach !!!

thats awesome dude!!!...WE wished we could have been there...Donna And I even tried to catch a quick flight Saturday night to try and suprise yall but airfare alone was $1200.00 so we passed and looked south last sunday and Saluted from Villa Sun seekers/cenote Donimichi....

where Im off to because it is sunny and 90F today...trip report coming!

Sorry Tex, it's generally against my religious beliefs to snap pictures at heavy drinking events such as that one ( but one I'll probably break when Squish comes to Dallas!!!)..... plus at that point in the night I don't think I was really capable of operating such a complicated piece of electronic equipment as a "point and shoot" camera

I kinda remember 6 shots of DJulio, a shot of Centenario, and a margarita chaser just before I went drinking that nite

.... I think I do have some pics of Kinz and Leppy.... but thats a whole nother story to be told by someone much prettier than me
