Just to clarify....you can not call an American 1-800 number directly from a Mexico based pay phone. (with the exception of some private operators and some hotels that use internet phone service that acts like a US based phone, therefor allowing the number to connect) I have the Mexico based AT&T toll free number which I dial first then when it asks me to dial the number I want to call collect I dial the US toll free number and then enter my phone card number thereby tricking the system into thinking I am using my card from somewhere in the States and getting a lower rate than if I were calling from Mexico.
