Pretty sad state of affairs when the QUICKEST way to the White House for a REPUBLICAN seems to be to bash and distance themselves from the current REPUBLICAN president as much as possible!

I've said for years, the Bush administration is not, by historical standards a "Republican" administration. They are neo-cons which are far different (and IMHO) much more dangerous to our country's health and future. This is what has made "debate" with my conservative Republican friends over the past several years so difficult and frustrating. Because the current occupant of the white house has an "R" next to his name, they feel compelled to defend his EACH and EVERY action, when, in fact, much of what he says and does is not very "conservative" or traditional Republican at all.

If the presidential ticket was Barry Goldwater OR Dwight Eisenhower vs., say, Dennis Kucinich, I would vote for Goldwater without hesitation.
