Bumper...
I remember watching a made for TV movie where Harry C. played the husband (minor role) which came out a few weeks after he passed...
Felt like Jim Croce all over again...
Ahh...Stanley Jordan...his tap or touch technique revolutionized lead guitar riffs....(right Mr. Van Halen?)...

And Randy Bachman..of Guess Who with Burton Cummings and of the familial BTO - Bachman Turner Overweight...

There's always Yellowknife's Gordon Lightfoot - (and Margot Kidder)

Kinz...
Ahh...Mr. Clarke, Koz, Brubeck - "Take 5" CLASSIC! ...Miles Davis...Sarah Vaughn, OH..and NORAH - I was an ORIGINAL Norah Jones fan from WAY back when she was an unknown from Grapevine Texas with a famous Father (Ravi Shankar - sitar) who taught the Beatles the finer points of Indian music and weed...Taj Mahal (Wow that goes back)
And kinz....speaking of Jim Croce - his son is BIG in the Jazz music game...

You know there's so many...and most of them at the Cotton Bowl's Crossroads event in Big D. next weekend...

AND I had NO idea on Wayman...one of the all-time prolific scorers in NCAA history...no way you could stop him and his left handed moves...I'll have to investigate that!
Thanks for the tip kinz!

Kinz!! A kindred spirit!! Another closet jazz freak!! Why am I not surprised?? With you bigtime on The Rippingtons, Syro Gyra, Boney James, Dave Brubeck, and Miles Davis. Howza bout Natalie Cole, Fourplay, Oscar Peterson, Mannheim Steamroller, John Coltrane, Harry Connick, Diana Krall, Stephan Grapelli, Manteca, Bob James, Joe Sample, George Benson (On a good day), and The Duke & The Count. Sorry to hear of your tragic lose, but the music's still out there, Buddy.

Know 'em both from when I hired the Guess Who to play dances at our high school before they hit the big time. Cummings is an A**hole, but Bachman, on the other hand, was a pretty decent chap, and I understand he still is. His mentor on the guitar was Lenny Breau, who you've likely never heard of, but he was somewhat of a legend in this part of the world. GAWD, this stuff sure dates me. I'm older than dinosaur poop!

I must attest Bumper I can play the trumpet.
When I was in highschool I played in the Jazz Band but I had to drop it because of wrestling(won state at 125lbs my sr. year, look me up at any Texas Highschool field house & my picture should still be there) but picked up it up again in college. That could of been a career.

Love Jazz too. In addition to Miles Davis, Spyro Gyra, Bob James, and John Coltrane our Jazz collection also includes: Mose Allison, Van Morrison, Louis Armstrong, John Mclaughlin, Al Di Meola, Jean-Luc Ponty, Earl Klugh, Pat Metheny, Weather Report, and the Mahavishnu Orchestra.

Of course, we our music collection also includes Blues and Blues Rock such as Muddy Waters, Taj Mahal, George Thorogood, ZZ Top, Blues Traveler, and Little Feat.

Denise, I saw Lowell George and company while in college. One of my all time favorite shows, camped out for tickets. I wanna say it was about 1975. Fine time for some excellent music. My favorite musical decade, in large part due to Little Feat and in spite of the looming degradation of the whole scene by Kool and the Gang, Village People, et. all.

Shelly Manne and His Men - The Gambit (1958 vinyl)
McCoy Tyner - New York Reunion
and a third would be converting all my Diana Krall cds to mp3 and putting on one disk (which I've already done)
What do you think of them Bumper?

Can't argue with those selections, Jobob, but you're reaching back. Shelly is indeed a gem, but if I were to pick a favourite skin man, it would likely be Gene Krupa, or Chick Webb, or even Buddy Rich.

Tyner makes even the cracks sound good, and jazz keyboards aren't my favourite instruments, but you'll have to go a long way to beat the likes of Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Bob James, or The Duke (for those of us with a classical bent)

I'm certainly favourably impressed with all the jazzies that are coming out of the woodwork and closet. Sometimes, I feel like a lonely voice in the wilderness.

Hey there girl...How ya doin'?
I agree with you there, but it seems we've expanded the listings beyond an island theme....which I first thought was the focal point, but since have learned differently...
