I thought the following management tool might prove useful for those of you who are involved in businesses where the concept of "service" is not yet an outmoded notion. It certainly improved our "on-time" performance ratings when I was involved in the work-a-day world.
THE RUSH JOB CALENDAR NEG FRI FRI FRI THURS WED TUES 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 16 15 14 12 11 10 9 23 22 21 20 19 18 17 32 30 28 27 26 25 24 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 This is a special calendar for handling rush jobs. Almost invariably, rush jobs are wanted yesterday. With this calendar, a job can be ordered on the 7th and delivered on the 3rd. 1.Most rush jobs are required by Friday, so there are now three Fridays in each week. You’ll note the 13th of the month has been eliminated in order to avert a disproportionate number of Friday the 13th’s. 2.There are eight new days added to each month to allow for those ever popular end-of-the-month panic jobs. 3.There is no longer a 1st of the month, thus avoiding late deliveries of the previous month’s last-minute panic jobs. 4.To circumvent the requirement for “first thing Monday morning” jobs, Mondays are abolished altogether, as are traditionally non-productive Saturdays and Sundays. 5.A new day - Negotiation Day - has been introduced, thereby keeping the other days free for uninterrupted anxiety and turmoil. Sorry!! Apparently the software that's used here eliminates the spaces input in a document, so this whole calendar got squeezed to the left. :o Hopefully, you can picture it as it was intended, with the dates shown under the days of the week like a regular calendar, and follow the concept.
