EMERGENCY: A Cure for the Common Cold!

I have come in contact with leprechaun-sized green-nosed-type individuals, tragically resulting in... the common cold!!!

With only two days before P2D2 departure I am in desperate need of a cure! What is your best remedy? And where is DocLoch when you need him?

Brew a cup of hot tea
add on shot of whiskey
add lemon and honey to taste.

Drink

repeat every two hours until you pass.........errr fall asleep.

good as new in 24 hours.

Have you ever heard of the pills Cold FX? You use them when you feel a cold comming on. They are non-perscription in Canada, so just go to your pharmacy and ask where they are. They really do work great, but it is meant for when you feel a cold comming on. Although, I don't think it would be bad to try them if you do have a cold already. They're not very expensive, around $20 canadian and you can also take one a day for prevention if you have something special planned in the future you don't want a cold with! But start taking them ASAP!! They work great with me....I swear by them!! If you don't feel them working just take a bunch of vitamin C!! Other wise drink TONZ and DON'T EAT ANY SUGAR!!

PS. Critter, did you know that alchohol actually slows down your immune system? So drinking is the WORST way to try and cure a cold. Makes you feel better for a short time, but prolongs the sickness in the long-run

Oh great, just like a Canadian, already whining and throwing out excuses why she can't keep up w/ us Texans in a party situation !!! But Squish, don't worry, "cold" is something you will not have to worry about at the Cotton Bowl... it should be about 115 degrees on the field... thats like 54 degrees on your crazy Celsius scale isn't it ???

Scott... I almost added a 'Wendy Whiner' disclaimer, but honest... am not whining! Call it prep! YOu should STILL be ascared - even with a green-snot-nose I CAN/WILL endure!

Squish, there is a OTC product called Zicam that really works for me. It's best to use it when you feel a cold coming on, but even with a full blown green-snot nose, it will help your symptoms go away faster. It's a nasal spray or comes in one-time-use swabs. Be sure to read the directions, though, because you don't sniff it up like a most sprays, you just sort of let it sit in your nose to be absorbed. Have a great time in Texas!!

Critter,That's what my Dad always made me when I was really sick with a cough and could not sleep. I never liked the way it smelled. Taste was OK once you got used to it. But definitely did the trick thanks to the whiskey, I imagine. Dad called it a "hot toddy" though I have know idea if that was really what it is called or if he just made it up.

Hey Scott, Trust me, Squish'll be a handful even if she's not functioning at 100%. Her 100% is like most peeps 1000%. So watch out!

Squish, make sure to pack a green bandana.... to coordinate with your green-snot-nose. Can double as a snot rag. If you don't have one, let me know cause I'm sure we do and I'll pack it especially for you.

I think we all had better watch out... Squish and Lil G will probably be a rather volatile combination.... just light the fuse (actually "pull the cork") and run like hell !!!

Denise - That is what I have always known it to be a hot toddy.

Alma - it only has a shot in it, hardly worth a mention of alcohol, just ask any of the Texicans on this board.

In the early sixties I went to the flight surgeon with slightly enlarged, puss pocketed tonsils and a very sore throat. His prescription was :
Take penicillin pill with a beer
drink another beer
take 2 aspirin with a beer
finish six pack

repeat as necessary - got to love the old school flight surgeons
