Humbled By The Honor
This afternoon I was humbled
The honor of this is exceeded only by recognition of the fact that this semi-pinnacle has been achieved at the sacrifice of over-looking screaming clients' demands I look forward to learning how to do the Secret Member's Duck Walk and the other wonders that will be certain to come my way as I settle into this new role. |

I shall heed your advice and do just that! As soon as The Lovely Lady Lawyer and I arrive at the house this evening, I shall order-up a round for the house. You will, also, be pleased to know that she is a an extoller and imbiber of Canadian hooch. Therefore, one of the drinks I will host will be from the Beloved Country. |

Have to say though, that I rather had it in mind that the round I mentioned would be for our house. Ah well, I guess we'll just have to put it under the heading of "I'd rather owe it to you than do you out of it altogether." |

Hey there RAM,
We have the StratoBowl here...has a place in ballooning history...I think even a recent launch for an around-the-world attempt was scheduled from here... And Raven Industries too has created some balloons...And at the Sturgis Rally, Malcolm Forbes and his friends brought in several balloons one year... ![]() Whadda ya' say, guys...should we show him the secret handshake? Scotty...you may be right. Separated at birth...but an Okie, and a lawyer in the bargain!! I don't have anything of a humourous nature featuring Oklahomans in my files (Would those be Okie-Jokies?), but there's an astonishing selection of lawyer entries available for use. I think I've shown admirable restraint so far. |

Ahh, the accolades of semi-success..How sweet
OK, Bumper, let's "bag" the lawyer jokes.
We're kinda like undertakers and proctologists: nobody likes us until they need us, and we're often viewed as severe pains in the Why not take the High Road that Brother Cuff' has chosen to traverse?Cuff'...The picture you see of 1-2-3, our beautiful gentle giant, is of a balloon that was built in SD, in 11/99, at Aero Star (formerly Raven). I've been flying her since she was new. TX...I'm not sure if there is any familial relationship between The Bump and me. Since he drinks single malt beverages , I seriously doubt it. I must add, however, that he seems to exhibit some redeaming social value and, as you know, he is a Senior Member and must be accorded deference by a newbie such as I. (Have you heard the one about the chili cook-off judge?) Oops, the nurse just came in to tell me it's time for my medication. Catch ya'll later. |

A few points... You'll note I've resisted the urge to post all those lawyer jokes. Too easy and trite. Never trust a proctologist who can palm a basketball. While I would never claim to be as classy a guy as Cuff, I always take the high road. As in "I'll take the high road, and you take the low road, and I'll be in Scotchland afor ya'." I've never tried ballooning - terrified of heights - but I can see the appeal. Are you Phileas Fogg, or Passepartout? As for the single malt...I'll admit it's an acquired taste, but it's worth the effort and investment. Practice, practice, practice! And I've got a chili cookoff story somewhere. I'll see if I can exhume it and post it. As I recall, it was quite amusing. |

RE: Stuff
Bumper, I have the chili cook-off story and believe it was penned by TX.
I'll post it tomorrow when I return to my cubicle of legal pursuits. Your penchant for single malt is understood and acknowledged. The Lovely Lady Lawyer has a concurring opinion --that's legal talk. In fact, as I beat my digits to the nub on the keyboard, she is lookin' GOOD and sippin' (Okies and Texans just can't seem to add g's to words) on a Canadian Hunter and soda. Which reminds me, the rumor is that, when packin' for Playa, she loads a big ol' bottle of Hunter in her suitcase. You need to lighten up about your concern over heights. I've been to 10,000 feet (Yes, I was in the balloon, not doing some out-of-body experience) and have flown at two feet above a waving wheat field. It's the most fun you can have standing up with your clothes on. I'm outa here...It's enchillada night at El Chico's. We need to get ready for next month's trip to PDC. In other words, several Coronas, Dos XX's chaser and maybe some tortillas, hot sauce and queso. I'll leave the tequila to my esteemed Senior Members until I am older and better trained. ![]() |
