IB Lindo Trip report

We just returned from a week at the Lindo and absolutely loved it. I would highly recommend it to anyone. It was all we could ask for and more! We went with our 2 sons ages 3 & 6. I cannot say enough about the staff there as well. I will break down my report into a few categories:

Resort - Beautiful. The landscaping & architecture was amazing. The flowers were the nicest we have seen. Every single day we saw people cutting the lawn, trimming the trees, collecting dead leaves. Very nice maintained.

Staff - just amazing. They were always smiling & saying "hi". My 6 yr old son made an effort to speak Spanish to them & they were thrilled. The one complaint we did have was with the maid service. It was very inconsistent while we were there. One day our maid came at 8 am in the morning. She just walked right in. No knocks or anything. Then the next day the maid came at 8 pm at night to clean! But the maid did a good job though and we got some towel art. We did tip her $3 per day - 2 kids managed to make quite a mess! The Star Friends were awesome. They were so energetic & welcoming. They were great with kids or adults. We had fun watching & participating in the pool games they had each day. The jungle walk was cool too.

Rooms - pretty nice. We were in room # 5236. Which was nice as it was right by the big pool & snack grill area. We did not hear any noise from the disco at all. The view was of a courtyard. Perfect location for us. We had a HUGE balcony. IT was almost as big as the room! The bathrooms are nice and have a lot of space. The safe was great to have too.

Pools - Amazing! There are almost too many choices to choose from. The main pool is huge and has a swim up bar . The pools were great for younger kids as there was a gradual slope in certain areas so the kids could play there. They were amazingly clean. We went swimming one night around 8 pm for about a hour. When we left they must have had 4 people in the large pool alone vacuuming it. The wave pool was awesome. We went in it almost every time it went off. It was pretty much empty all the time. About 10 minutes before they started it people started arriving. It was a mixture of pool water & salt water and colder than the main pool. It went off ever hour starting at 11 am until 4 pm. There is a health bar located right there. They usually had a counter full of fruits & vegatables that The lazy room was OK. Pretty boring all in all. There was another pool right by the walkway to the beach that was usually empty. We never had a problem finding a chair. To get a good spot you did have to get there early. We usually got to the pool around 9:30 or so & got a great spot. We were able to leave our stuff there all day without anyone touching it. In fact one day we left our 2 rafts by the chairs to get some lunch. When we got back the person a couple chairs down told me a couple of kids tried to take them & he shooed them away.. Nice people! We were glad we brought rafts, water balls, and water guns from home. We found the gift shop to be terribly expensive.

Food - we only ate at the buffet restaurants. We found enough variety for all 4 of us! Even the kids liked the food here. The fried rice & veggies were to die for. There was usually a line for that. The salad bar was good too but they did not have a large variety of salad dressings. We ordered room service after half a day at Tulum and it came very fast. Very limited menu but fine for us. Breakfasts were by far our favorite. The freshly made doughnuts melted in your mouth. The coconut bread was great as well. Service in the buffets was great. The waiters & waitresses really made an effort to keep your drinks filled. My diet coke or cola light would be half empty & another one would be placed right next to it. I wished they had more variety in fish. Most nights they had grouper which isn't my favorite fish. One night they had salmon which was tasty. My husband really wanted some red meat i.e. filet or sirloin. Not burgers. Each night they seemed to have a "show case" meat. One night it was a whole roasted pig, another night veal, another night turkey, etc. But we never saw a roast. No biggie. Enough of a variety for anyone. My kids, of course, had to have fries with every meal! They usually had a person by the pool serving hot dogs which was cool for a quick snack.

Beach -- Very very nice. Again no problem finding chairs. The good chairs went quickly though. Be aware of the walkway to the beach - it's dark in color & get very very hot in the afternoon. My youngest son ran onto it without shoes and burned the bottom of his toes. He had little blisters on them!! We only had red flags on 2 days. The rest were yellow flags. The beach is very clean. They have a pier, but you could only walk out a 1/3 of the way as the rest was tied off. We walked past the Beach & Del mar resorts one day. There wasn't too much there except some other smaller hotels. We also walked in the opposite direction one day.

Misc- we went to both the 2 other IB resorts and found the Lindo to be superior. The pools at the IB Beach were filthy. Leaves, sticks, glasses, etc. Not clean at all. Even my 6 yr old commented on how dirty the pools were. They had ceramic painting at the IB Beach which we did & they came out wonderful. You got the items back in just 2 hours.

I wanted to post this as I used this forum SO much in planning my trip & I wanted to give back! Email me with any questions you may have!
