Talking FORUM FUN FEATURE!! Nostalgia For The Sixties

While many of you weren't around at the time, and others will likely deny they were, some of us actually enjoyed the 60's. Mind you , it's been said that if you remember the 60's, you weren't really there, but that's another issue. Some of us remember. Mostly!

Nostalgia For The Sixties

The Sixties, yes the Sixties. A time of hope. A time of rebellion. A time for discovering new ways to do things, ways that could not be any worse than what was being done at the time.

In contrast to most of the other movements of the period, one very active group combined revolutionary vegetarianism (not so uncommon), and militant prohibitionism (very uncommon), with a solid grounding in the widely-held ideology of Free Love. The members of this movement believed that the first part of their philosophy would automatically lead to perfect physical health. They were convinced that if they ate only vegetables, and loved one another, that the uncontrollable desire to consume the Demon Rum would pass away.

They believed that:

Peas would rule the planets,
And love would clear the bars.
It was the dawning of the age of asparagus.

You need a long rest, perhaps a vacation.

Naw Critter...no need for a vacation....Bump just had a globule burst which sent penned up THC from 35 years ago into his bloodstream...spawning, quite understandably, this diatribe on the mindset of the era....

So, that having been said...

Rising from among the Circle of Friends that surround Yoko and John L., - which includes actor Peter Boyle, and bon vivant Dick Cavett... - comes the chant...

"ALL we are saaayyy-ing....is gives PEAS a chance....'

Bump...wouldn't this (Free Love) go against the philosophy that was touched upon in Stanley Kubrick's "Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb"...concerning the depletion and poisoning of our essence - our "VITAL Bodily Fluids"...Base Commander Ripper (Sterling Hayden)...???

NOT to mention the flouridation of our water....????

Just WAY too many chemical issues raised there, Cuff. The sixties were definitely the era of living better through non-prescription pharmaceuticals.

Bump, I'm getting concerned that your drinking way too much of that single malt stuff, I believe it's eroding your brain cells at an excessive rate !!! Do we need to start sending you Don Julio care packages to get you through the +/- 268 days till your back in Playa drinking the good stuff er what.
We don't want to lose you before the "Thrilla in the Villa".... who else would dare stand in that ring as referee for the drinking match of the century ???

SCOTTY!! You're back!! I'm so glad you managed to make your escape from the clutches of the evil abductors. Sorry about that money thing, but you know how it is. That $12,500 would have done serious damage to my alcohol purchasing reserves, and a person has to keep their priorities straight.

The words "too much" and "single malt" cannot co-exist in the same sentence.

As for timing, we're outta' here Feb 18, and after a sojourn on Mujeres, into PdC. 257 days, I figure, but who's counting. As for the Thrilla, I wouldn't dream of missing it. Don't know if we'll be attending in any official capacity, but I'll be starting my strict training regime any day now. 1-2-3 Swallow, 1-2-3 Swallow, repeat if necessary. Followed by the 12 ounce curls.

I think you need to send Squish a message... she is on the cutting edge of drinking technologies, and along with Lil G, they are on the verge of perfecting a drinking system that is light years beyond current methods. It will change your life !!!!!!!
