Weather in PDC this morning?

Logged on to the Weather Channel just now. It shows rain in PDC all day. No sun at all. Can someone look out their window down there and give me a weather report?

Looks like rain all day outside my window here in NC today too. Wish I could look out the window and it be PDC --- rain or no rain. Click here to see 3 day temperature and precipation forecast maps of Yucatan and Quintana Roo. Click here to see an animated satelitte image of the weather in Yucatan and Quintana Roo.

Wow! Great looking sites. Just wish the weather looked as great. Should be better when I get there :p

No need to look out the window. The thunder and downpours woke me up all night. I have never seen so much rain in my entire life! But, when the rain's over, I'll still be in paradise, so let it pour!

Thanks Denisea

I clicked on both sites but did not like the color over Q.Roo. The 10 day forecast I have been following shows clear skies next weekend. Just in time. Thanks again.

Susie:
Thanks for the eye (ear) witness report. Must be great living anywhere on the Mayan Riviera, you know the sun will be out eventually. You can't say the same thing about New England.

I was watching the Weather Channel last night and the man who does the tropical forecast almost made a joke of the Yucatan weather this week. He stating something to the effect that all of the vacationers in Cancun this week should demand their money back. They have received 10 inches of rain and the low pressure system is just stalled over the area.

Sounds a little bit like what I dealt with in Playa last June. It poured for 3 straight days. Lucky afterward the weather was beautiful and we salvaged 4 nice days.

Just came back from watching The Day After Tomorrow. Compared to the weather they show in the movie (and some weather we had in Canada when I lived there) these two rainy days we've had in Playa are nothing.

it's only 7.20 am, but it looks like we might have some blue skies today.

Up and at 'em right promptly today, eh James? Couldn't have been much of a Saturday night, unless you haven't been to bed yet. Or are you getting in practice to be early-morning Mr. Mom? Or p'raps off to sunrise services at Saint Mattress?

:o Awww, shucks, Scott! But you can trust James on this one this morning. My first thought this was morning was, "Is that sunshine!?" It wasn't, but it's as bright as it's been for a couple days. I wouldn't bet the farm on blue skies (the map says that's wishful thinking), but I think it'll be better today than yesterday.

Updated Beach Report from Paamul Wow, with no rain for a minute, everyone got out early this morning to discover that one of the residents' boats was underwater. So, a gathering on the beach ensued as they worked to get it out. This is what I learned:

~According to a 20 year resident: It has never rained this much in 20 years, ever, even during hurricanes.

~Turtle eggs look just like ping-pong balls and nests near shore don't survive.

~When the cenotes fill up with rain, the pressure forces the excess water through whatever channels it can find... HUGE chunks of beach washed away from the cenote water below it being geysered up to the sand. With the beach gone, the edge of the surf is bubbling from below as the water is still being released. I reached into one to see what it felt like, and pulled out a huge storage bag that had been in the downed boat.

~A rope will easily cut several inches into a palm tree when said rope is attached to a heavy boat on one end and a heavy SUV on the other. I think the boat would have been a better sacrifice than the palm.

~We all become Mexican once we're here. Though there are several shovels in the neighborhood, and several residents, only one shovel is brought to the job, one person works at a time, and twelve people are needed for supervision.

Time to go check the progress...

(I love this place... have I mentioned that?)
