? Info on PDC bus schedule to Cancun/Caller ID & Cellular (Mobile) coverage
Hi there,
We would like some info on PDC's bus schedule like how often does it run, where to board, and where can you pick it up in Cancun, and the cost? Also, how is the GSM mobile/cellularcoverage in/around the resorts-- the signal strength? Does caller ID work? Thanks Last edited by blondee_yvr; 06-14-2004 at 06:56 PM. |

The bus to Cancun leaves from the main terminal in Playa at the corner of Juarez and 5th Ave., right downtown, and drops you off at the main bus terminal in Cancun. It runs about every 15 minutes and takes about an hour, door to door. Fare in February/March was 32 pesos. From the terminal in Cancun you can either take cabs, which are reasonably pricey, or local buses, which are cheap and efficient.

Our hotel is 2.5 km or 1.35 miles/ 20 to 23 minute walk to PDC. I don't know if that helps in determining coverage. |

Is there another cost effective way like bus passes to do shopping/sightseeing in the hotel zone? |

Sorry, can't help you with any more info than I've given. Maybe someone else can offer some advise from their experience. I can't see why anyone would want to go to Cancun at all, other than if they had a very specific purpose in mind, so we never had to get around much there. If I wanted to go to a Walmart, I'd go to the end of my street, not the other side of the continent. Cabs in Cancun are not cheap though, I can tell you that from personal experience. The local buses are very reasonably priced, though I suppose navigating on them might be an issue if your Spanish is as suspect as mine. We had only one destination in mind, and the information gentleman in the terminal in Cancun, whose English was at least as good as mine, was very helpful in advising us what bus to take to get there and back.

Cancun bus
Cancun buses are clearly marked "Walmart" or "Hotels" and can be caught right around the corner from the bus station. Just look or ask for "centro" when you want to return. It's been awhile since I've used them, but remember the fares being less than 7P; perhaps 3 or 4.

Just to clarify....
All buses that dont go to the Hotel Zone (stay in town) are 4 pesos one way. All that DO go to/or from the Hotel Zone are 6 pesos one way. From the Hotel Zone R-2 is wal-mart and Market 28. From the Hotel Zone R-1 is Anything along Tulum Ave. From the Hotel Zone R-15 is Office Depot and between Wal-mart and Tulum. From the Hotel Zone R-27 is Plaza los Americas (Mall) Getting back to the Hotel Zone just take any of these going the other way, towards the Hotel Zone. Ask if unsure. In town R-5 is Plaza los Americas (when going South) don't get on if its going another direction as you will be taken into Spanish land. R-4 can be Wal-mart or other places, read the front of the bus. Unless you have a place in mind other than the main drags you have no business on any other buses in Cancun. Most of the drivers can understand enough English that you can ask..."Wal-mart?" "Hotels?" etc... and they can answer you. |

Fernanda<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_52086", true); </SCRIPT> , good idea. Who's got the best car rates? What about road maps for those of us that easily get disoriented in a foreign place and don't speak spanish?
