[quote=sctx] Even though we haven't seen an initiative for non-enforcement of federal marijuana laws here in over a year, San Marcos is still an old school liberal town... restaurant owners can even have smoking areas in their establishments if they choose

Woo Hoo. Just talked the hubby in for a trip to the river weekend of August 7-8. Hey Sunseekers count us in for the river trip. I don't know if we will catch up with you guys, but we will be there. We will be staying a little ways away from the river near Canyon Lake, but we will venture down to the river. What part of the river will you be floating?
Scott, is there any specific outfitter that you are using? Thank you for giving me a reason to get my hubby down there. We try to go to the guadalupe at least 3 times durring the summer, but have not been once this year. We passed up our week vacation durring Memorial Day week this year. What a mistake we made on that one. I would like to meet everyone and maybe yall can give us some info on Playa.

I thinnk that Rockin R covers most of the river from the horseshoe down to the Gruene crossing. They cost a little more than the others, but you get a better coverage of the river. I'll try to get some information and PM you with it.

Yeah, the Chute is a must. last time we were on the Lupe, some butthead in canoe punctured our cooler tube right above Huaco falls and then the falls chewed me and Lil G up and spit us out... if it wasn't for the sweet competition bodybuilder chicky floatin with us, the whole day would have sucked (for me anyway
). Wasn't good flow on the river that day and we ended up being on the river more than 7 hours

Well, the PCTRTR1 has now ended... without any recorded drownings other than those attributed to the empty bottles of Chinaco, El tesoro, and Sauza cluttering my kitchen counter. Due to a 5440 cfs water release on the Guadalupe, the event was confined to the San Marcos River both days... but no one seemed to mind. A new boardmember, Ramal, showed up for the Sat. nite party at our house and everyone was relieved he was just a pharmacist and not the evil mass murderer that was originally envisioned by all. We verified his identity with a SA Spurs quiz, Playa quiz, and Tequila trial and he passed all with sufficiently high marks,.. so Ramal, welcome to the PlayaCrew (Texas Battallion) and we'll see you in August. The party became intense around midnite and as I did my best to keep the conversation directed away from the buzzkill topis of relgion and politics, the sober member of our group collected some of those "priceless" memories before everyone crashed around 2:30am.
Lil G's idea of doing the long float on the Guadalupe on Saturday and the San Marcos on Sunday so peeps can start heading home around 3 o or 4pm is gonna work perfect. Seokony and Tyyyyyyyyyrrrrrrraaaaa's group got packed up this mornig, got on the river at noon, floated from the university to Lucio Park, had lunch at Herbert's Taco Hut, and they were heading to Dallas by 2:30 |

Apparently the hotels in San Marcos are kinda full right now and advance reservations may be wise... unless you want to pitch a tent in the backyard |
