will be renting a house that is just a couple hundred yards south of the Ferry dock in the beginning of Playacar I and am wondering if one is allowed to build fires on the beach. We are thinking of having a fourth of july party with a bonfire if possible.

I've sat around several bonfires in Tulum on the beach, but I have not done it in years here in Playa. It is certainly frowned upon, and where you are staying, I would kind of doubt you would want to try it, but you might, as this is Mexico, and sometimes things are a little relaxed and rules fuzzy.

I sure would not want to see dark ashes in that beautiful white sand. Maybe you could use a ton of Tiki Torches and not have a camp fire.
