What do you mean by "noise"?? On the beach during the day or at night?? They play music and such around the pool area, but I don't recall hearing anything but wind and waves on the beach. And at night it's pretty quiet. The shows at night at in the Plaza which is farther up the resort and end around 11-11:30. The disco is waaaay up past the Quetzal lobby, and since it's inside, there's really no noise to speak of from that part. Hope this helps. |

We were at the Tucan last September, and I don't remember any noise... It was very nice and peaceful, but there was enough activity to keep you awake! I don't remember any loud blaring speakers or anything like that. You will love it. The beach is spectacular!

The majority of what you will hear on the beach at the IB* T/Q will be the wind and the crashing waves.
Of course you will also hear the other vacationers around you talking, laughing, the children playing, the Star Friends going around trying to get people to participate in the games or volleyball or whatever. In other words, the usual stuff. To be honest the only "noise" we heard is the sound of the jet skis. But that was sort of our fault because we liked to sit near the south end of the T/Q beach where it meets the Gala resort and that is where the jet ski rental people set up. But, hey, we were on vacation. A little "noise" was not going to bother us. |

We just got back last Saturday. Our room was in building 12 facing the resort next door. The only thing we ever heard from our room was the ocean waves and the little golf carts the hotel staff use to get around.
I emailed the hotel and requested building 11, which is the first building behind the Jr. Suite building on the Tucan side. They came as close as they could, putting us in building 12, which was still great. We took my daughter to the Kid's Club, which takes place until 9 pm in the main palapa, and stayed until around 11 pm. When we left, the adult part of the show was still going on and I remember how loud it was even when we were walking down the path through the jungle area. I even commented at the time that I was glad we didn't have a room across for the main palapa. If you haven't seen a map of the grounds, there's one here: http://community.webshots.com/photo/...71303725AHVBIq |

Cookie: I don't believe any music played around the pool area can be heard on the beach (unless you're on the sand right next to the pool). We usually lounged farther down by the water, so as posted above, all you hear is the waves and wind (sooooo relaxing). I think if I'd heard the music down on the beach section, it would've left an impression on me (I wouldn't have appreciated it at all). And also I don't recall hearing any disco crap being played at the pool either (egaaaaad). But... then again..... I'm not sure if the people on the beach didn't hear me screaming when I parasailed in front of the resort..... (just kidding... it was awesome!)

One good thing about the IB T/Q is that it's the second to the last resort in Playacar. If you really want to get away from it all for a little while, you can just walk past the Gala and there's nothing but empty beach. Of course, there aren't any lounge chairs, free drinks, restrooms, etc.!
