Christine,
We just returned from a week stay at Reef Coco Beach. My husband, sons 7, 11 & 13 yrs and myself. I had tried to email and reserve connecting rooms for our children and upon arrival, they could not accomodate. They gave us beach front rooms side by side after I got upset over 2 rooms that were 10 rooms away from each other. The first night in the beach front was no additional cost, but the rest of the stay would have been $50 per night per room. We said no way!! Get us connecting rooms or move us to another hotel. They finally got us connecting rooms, 2258 & 2259. They were wonderful, over looking the pool and the ocean. The food is very very bad at the open seating restaurant. We survived on the snack bar, but it doesn't open till 10:30 or so and closes at 6:30. They are very under staffed, so bring your own large cup so that you don't have to make so many trips to the bar. We had one waiter who came around the pool area or the beach the entire week we were there, but he didn't come to work until 3:00. We did make the best of the week and had a really great time!! Just go with an open mind and don't plan on getting your money out of the food. I didn't gain any weight on this vacation. WARNING!!! Do not get the temporary tattoos!! My children got them and we spent an entire night at the emergency room this past weekend trying to get them some relief from the pain, itching and burning that the tattoos have caused. I've been on the phone trying to get in to see a dermatologist to prevent any permanent scarring from these tattoos. I'll down load pictures later of the after effects of these "harmless" tattoos. Any questions, let me know. |

BLACK Henna tattoos are not harmless! Some people have an allergy to PPD, one of the ingredients. The more concentrated the PPD, the more damage that can be done.
These tattoos can leave serious scars. Here is some info: http://abcnews.go.com/sections/GMA/L..._concerns.html http://reverndbunny.sphosting.com/ppdburns.html http://www.mydr.com.au/default.asp?Article=3753 |

The poor kid, I'm sorry TX, that's too bad. I REALLY hope the doctor can help your son before it forms a scar. Keep us informed. My son got one in Puerto Plata a few years back, before I knew about the dangers associated with black henna. Thank God he wasn't allergic but now when we go away, I pull up those pictures and you can bet no one asks for tattoo! Matter of fact, we went last Nov with another family and THEIR son begged for one. I told them what could happen but they were still gonna give in. I told them if they DID get him one, I'd have them on the first plane back to Joisey!
