trip report to Reef club playacar

Well... We were so excited to go to PDC on June 5-13 and finally made it!!!.

we stayed at the Reef club playacar.
I read about the hotel and I heard good and bad comments about it but nothing serious so thats why (beside the price 2200 for 8 nights thru apple vacations) we decide to go for it.

CHECK IN

The check in was ok, the front desk manager was the one how gave us ck in, he didnt provide any info from the hotel or restaurants hrs.
our room wasnt ready at the time (1pm), but we didnt care so we went to the pool area and wait for the room mean while was ready.

the areas at hotel are ok, a lot of vegetation, clean and seems that the hotel was built surrounding a cenote...the hotel is divided by buildings, we request a room not close to the cenote in 2nd floor , because I read in this forum that they smell moldy so.. we got the room 923 (wich face to the main areas and pool, its one of the closest buildings to the pool and restaurants). \

RESTAURANTS
This is the worst part of our trip...the snack bar has no hygenie conditions....we saw several cockroach on the bar and that was the end of our visit there!!.
the main restaurant wich is buffett, by the 3 day of our stay we got tyred of it, its the same food over and over and over, for breakfast, lunch and dinner.(ie one night they offer fish on the grill but if you didnt feel like fish that day you are screw cause there is not other choice of main dish ).

the hotel has a Italian restarant, but we never went there.

so we just have breakfast at the hotel and eat out the rest of the week and Im talking a 8 nights vacations!!! they never change the buffett once!!!.

The service sucks!!, you have to serve yourself the drinks and they have waiters working there but are so busy that they cant handle the hole operation...just once we have excellent service from the waiter staff other thatn that sucks!.

ROOM ACOMMODATIONS

The room was ok, has everything what you need nothing fancy, but the last 3 days of our trip we had a tropical storm, so most of the time we had to stay a t the hotel , because it was impossible to go out... well, after 2 days of raining our room has a huge leak and the celling was almost fulling down (well part of it)nothing to worry about but we were on a second floor!!!! what happend with the people on top floor of us!!!!!.
Anyway, we called to the front desk so they can send somebody to fix it and the only thing that they did, was handle us 2 buckets!! hahaahaha, well they couldnt do to much because we were there but still ... at least offer me the option to moved to another room or something you know what I mean!??.

beach and pool are ok...we didnt had problems on those areas..

check out

we did it the night before to avoid lines at the front desk, no problem at all , we arrived on time at the airport and everything was cool with customs.

We had sucha great time in PDC , we have a lot of friends there and most of the time we were out of the hotel ....

Im not complaining about PDC the city is great and the people well you know sooooooo friendly....but is the hotel that doesnt provided or the people that works there doesnt care to provied a better service...

ahhhh!! one MORE thing that I almost forgot...
one night we went to captain tutix, we had such a great time there, we dance, drinks etc..!! ( we were there for 2 hrs ) and we were 6 persons... and at the end when we ask for our check they over charge us!!! of course because you get confuse with everything, the bill in pesos, the drinks on your head, you name it!! ... but our bill was for 875 pesos!!! for 6 persons, we didnt drink that much, some beers, caipirinas and thats it..next day in the morning ., we were making some numbers and we got to the conclusion that they over charge us for 30 usd!!...that night we want to pay by credit card and the waiter told us that they had some problems with their machine but he can come with us to an ATM ??!!!... anyway we ended paying in cash (pesos) ...we just want to get out of the problem! you know..

but next day... we realize everything,,, tooooooo late to complain!!! hahahaha anyway we had a great time, but still you know??!!!!

anyway... we just laught about our stupid adventurs on our vacations.... but be carefull with your bills, gas station,stores...check your change twice and if you dont feel confi with your bill always ASK!!!.

Just one more thing... if you ask me if I want to return to PDC for vacations again?, my answer..... OF COURSE!! its my best place for vacations so far...

but if you ask me if I want to stay again at the Reef club playacar? ... my answer.....NO WAY JOSE!!

good look....

Fernanda,

Thanks for the Trip Report....
Sounds like you ran into a bit of everything from GREAT to not so good...
But, you had an EXPERIENCE and that's the important thing! AND you had a good time...Thank goodness for your friends and for PDC!

Sometime soon we'll most likely ALL have to go back to our posted trip reports on our stays and place them with the corresponding properties along the Riviera Maya, as I think there is going to be a place for all the TR's and comments on each Hotel, AI, and various other properties, etc. in and around PDC...
