Female travelling alone seeking...

...(female) company for occasional snorkel trips, sightseeing tours, excursions with rental car, etc.

I've been following the action on this board for quite a while and playa info posters and readers seem to be pretty nice folks so I was wondering if there are some solo-travellers among you (girls prefered) interested in doing fun stuff together (no, not THAT kind of fun stuff! ) from time to time. Although I really enjoy exploring things by myself it would be nice not to be alone all the time. :o

I'm a 27-year old European (hey, look at Anna and you just know we ARE great and adorable people ) and I'll be in PDC July 6th - July 28th. I'm really easy going, open-minded with no attitude whatsoever...Interested? PM me!

Thanks. Connie

Fall?

Hi, Connie.

I love the area very much, but my husband does not get to take off work as often as I do. We are headed down with a group of friends on the 26th for a week. So, the week in July you mentioned will not work for me.

However, I have pondered making another trip to the area in maybe Sept. or Oct. (before prime season starts). Might you be able to go back then?

Just curious. Hope it works out for you in a couple of weeks!

PDC in fall won't work out

sportmodel - thanks for your reply.

I fell in love with PDC in 2002 and would love to go there at least twice year. Unfortunately my financial situation could be described as rather modest at the moment :o since I quit my fulltime job in marketing a few months ago just to end up living a poor student's live . All in the name of science...I will have finished my studies (corporate communications) next week and need to find a decent job again after my PDC vacation...Any vacancies?

Have a great time in Playa, sportmodel! Hope to meet you in a couple of years when I can afford to go to down there again...

Connie

No definitive plans, yet. PM me and maybe we can hook up!

Hi, Connie! I'm a 33 yr old female moving to Playa with my boyfriend on July 4. We will be busy setting up house, but I am sure I will need some down time away from the work (and my darling man, sad to say). I'm sure he'd be just as happy to get rid of me for a while. Let me know what you're up for--I'm up for anything except skydiving (afraid of heights!).
best, Heather

I think it's time for a reality check when someone with a user name like Spinsteraunt says

According to Merriam Webster

Main Entry: spin·ster Pronunciation: 'spin(t)-st&r Function: noun 1 : a woman whose occupation is to spin 2 a archaic : an unmarried woman of gentle family b : an unmarried woman and especially one past the common age for marrying 3 : a woman who seems unlikely to marry

I'm with Steve. Don't know what to say about that age thing. 33? Spinster? Hell, I've got ties older than that! And we won't go into the subject of the average age of my jokes.

You gotta' love somebody with an avatar like Connie's. The famous smiling Maine Coon. Looks just like one of my boys. Good luck with your search for good company, Connie. I'd offer our services, but Mrs. Bumper and I won't be there until next Feb/Mar. However, if you'd care to hang around until then...

Lol

Dearest Bumper: you've been one of my favorite posters for the longest time. Unbeatable humor (as far as I can tell...) + cat lover = charming combination BUT my avatar does NOT show a Maine Coon. But you were close. It's a 2 month old Norwegian Forrest Cat. Her name is Maya - guess why...?!?

I would have loved to meet you and Mrs Bumper

As hard as it will be to believe, I actually wondered if it was a Forest. I've never seen one live, only in pictures, but you have to admit the resemblance is striking. She's a beauty, and I'll wager she and Rocky - my Coon - would get along just fine. Perhaps we'll meet up some time and we can show each other pictures of our "kids". H-m-m-m-m...Corporate Communications, eh? It seems to me I've got something about that in my files. If I can find it, I'll post it here for you. Don't know how it will make the trip into your mother tongue, but your English is certainly better than my command of any of the wide variety of German dialects spoken in Austria. I'll go dig around in my files now. Auf wiedersehen, Connie.

AHA!! I knew I had something. As a matter of fact, I found several bits of stuff, but we'll start you with this one , Connie. Let me know if you would like to see some others and I can put them on the off topic board. I wouldn't want to clutter this one up with non-essentials. I would never want to be accused of warping a thread unnecessarily.

A HANDY GLOSSARY OF WHAT IS SAID IN CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS

One of the first things you learn when you become an employee of a big company is that management speaks in code.

Whereas you and your fellow employees speak to each other in clear, easy-to-understand sentences, such as “How ‘bout them Jets?”, and “Not now, I’m on a break.”, management has invented a language of its own that only it can understand.

Fortunately, research has allowed us to obtain a glossary of the most commonly used management terms, along with their English translations. Be advised that this is only a partial list, and that new, even more obscure, become part of management’s vocabulary every day.

• “We’re prioritizing expense items” - Your raise, unfortunately, is a very low priority item.

• “New challenges lie ahead” - We will soon be asking you to do additional work for the same amount of money.

• “Salary commensurate with experience” - What kind of experience, we’re not saying.

• “Many fringe benefits” - The outdoor restrooms work most of the time.

• “A consensus” - A decision that management made for you; any decision reached by people who do not have to suffer the consequences.

• “Cutbacks” - We have good news and bad news. The good news is that we have come up with a solution to the parking lot congestion. The bad news is that all of you are fired.

• “Performance incentives” - If you work harder, do a better job, come in earlier and stay later, your boss will get a big raise.

• “Team player” - An employee willing to do the work of nine.

• “Ethics” - not a recognized business term.

A-R-R-R-G-G-G-G!!! Busted by the thread Nazi!! I'll go quietly, Ma'am. Are you still using corporal punishment? (he said, hopefully!) "Beat me, Hurt me, make me feel cheap!"
