I also could use a tip on what the best boat tour is over to Isla Contoy from Cancun and the website so I can make reservations.
MunichChick - Trips to Contoy depend on the weather, I would not book an advanced trip. there is only one group from Cancun and that is the pirate ship.

If you catch the bus to Puerto Juarez and the Ferry to Isla Mujeres to arrive before 9 am, there are several groups that leave from the Contoy Co-op pier there. You should be able to find someone to go with that day. I have a couple of groups that I prefer to go with if you want to check with them the day before.

Thanks everyone for the tips!!! Had to scratch Hacienda Chichen out of tightsquat (spelling?) reasons but reserved the rental car for 4 days. VW Bug no AC $145 all fees included! I love that all mighty German quality vehicle down there. Nice ground clearance for the hidden bumpy sand roads to lonly beaches (at least I hope they are still lonly). Booked Hotel Mayan Paradise on Avenida 10th for the 30th to 1st. We stayed there twice on past vacations and just like the place a lot. Has that tropical feel with Palapa Roofs, comfy room and bed, AC, TV, Fridge, hammock on the terrace and very beautiful garden, prety pool, nice little Bar with swings, beach club and breakfast included. And it's close enough to crawl back from Tutix after celebrating with all of you. Roni where are you staying? How about you Denisea???? Can't wait to meet you and others.
Excitment Level - Medium to High since we will be in the Riviera Maya September as well.

Have not booked yet....still waiting to hear from a travel agent before we make airline decision. It will be nice to meet you and others whose words I have read for a couple of years now.

flights are booked

As of this morning, although have not received the e-tickets yet. TravelFrom found slightly less expensive fares with a better arrival time than I did, so we will be arriving at Cancun around 3:30 pm on December 20 and departing around 3:00 on December 30.

On to where to stay and whether to do a couple or three days on Critter's island.

I'm a newbie to Playa and will be there Dec 23-29. First Christmas alone (like Susie in Ohio). Thanks for posting your schedule. I am likely to show up, too...

I don't reckon there any need for any of Playa for Xmas folks to be alone. I'd guess that some will get planned for that day as we get closer to it. Maybe a communal meal--maybe a mixed grill at someone's condo and a Christmas morning walk on the beach to the north of Playa and beyond.

Lots to do. I remember Christmas on the beach when I was a kid. I kinda liked running around in shorts and thongs (what we used to call flip-flops back then) on Christmas day.

Linda_G you're not likely to find yourself alone over Christmas. Knowing our gang, you'll be lucky if you get any time to yourself. We look forward to meeting you.

Yes. What are called flip flops today were called thongs back then--early to mid 60's. What are called thongs today had not been invented yet. It is a dynamic world .

Munichchick,

We now have our airline tickets in hand and I can report that we are staying Dec. 20-24 at the Posada del Mar on Isla de Mujeres and will arrive in Playa on December 24 where we will be staying until the 30th at the same place Denisea and Keith and Tyra are staying. We've been told what floor our unit is on and are waiting for the address/bank account info to send in our deposit--so I guess it is not a sure thing until then.

I am mildy excited. Still have months to go and I cannot maintain a high level of excitment for that long . Looking forward to meeting you and many other people while we are there. Of course, we have to have adequate time to hang out at Mamitas or Playa Tukan and we plan to spend a day or two seeing some of the sights we did not see on our first trip there, eating at some of the restaurants we did not eat at, drinking at some of the bars we did not drink at, grocery shopping (we did not have a kitchen last time).....and like that

Yup, that's right, I'm back, baby!!

Well top o' the mornin' to y'all. How has everybody been. I soooo cant wait to get back down and see all of you fine folk. I'm probably going to be down Dec. 26, right after I kiss my mother good-bye after Christmas dinner. It looks to me by the looks of things that all of the Crew will be there. Hey, anybody know who I have to get a hold of to get on the BFE III????

Lotsa love,

Mr Bo

The Dec 30th BFE IV Fat Cat Cruise is official.

Approx. what time will you arrive on the 26th? You know there’s a party at our house (assuming we get there in time).
