Iberostar Lindo trip
My wife and I, Along with our 3 children ages 12yrs,8yrs & 9 months just returned home from another wonderful trip.. we were booked at the paraiso beach but we were upgraded to the Lindo!!! Lucky us!!! Both places are awesome.. The kids really loved the fact of having a wave pool and a lazy river at the Lindo. The Lindo is a VERY nice place.. room service is 24/7 and free of charge. Also each section of buildings have thier own concierge..(hope I spelled that right??) OK right to the point .. will not make this long.. as for my self I hated the food.. I think I may have lost weight since I only nibbled at was offered, I mostly ate the fruit and breads.. as for my wife she says it was ok...Our 12 yr.old found something to like all the time.. And the 8 yr old liked the mozzerella sticks for breakfast and doughnuts too..
Our 8 yr old loved the Lucy club. Both Vicky & Carla were so great to her.. she made friends from everywhere.. Our 12 yr old liked the ice cream bar and the fact that that thier were so many others his own age to hang around. A family oriented resort while we were there.. The staff was awesome to each and every one of us.. we did tip room service, housekeeping, bellboys and bartenders and received first class service for a few dollars here and there.. And every day in our room, the girls could not wait to see the towl art our house keeping person left for us.. She even folded our clothes we had left out!! Amazing!! This has been our 2nd trip to the area and we are seriously considering going back in August.. Unfortunately for us the IB is booked so we have to look elsewhere.. But thier is always next year.. We took a few trips however confined by the baby. We went to Crococun... (highly reccomend it to anyone with children, tip the guide at least $25) Took the ferry to Cozumel... And spent a day deep sea fishing.. Also of course shopped in Playa Del Carmen.. This site is so awesome for anyone planning a trip to PDC no matter where you stay or what you do.. Hats off to all who run and maintain it... If you have any questions to ask me about any Iberostar in Mexico I think I can answer... My family has been to the Tucan/Quetzal.. The Paraiso Lindo.. The Paraiso beach/DelMar & the Iberostar Cozumel........... KC |

Just curious as to what you did not like about the food ???
How was the beach area ?? Did you have to get up early yo get a chair ??? The Lindo is on our list of a "maybe" to stay at next summer. We went the the Barcelo this year and loved it. Thought the food was wonderful and beach was great. So I may just have to go back there next year rather than risk going to some place with yucky food. |

HI Tappy
We just returned from the Lindo in at the beginning of the month (seems like A LOT longer!) and we thought the food was very good. We had previously been to the Barcelo 2 x and decided to try to another resort...the Lindo. The food, in my opinion, was very good & we were all able to find something we liked. Even for my picky husband!! Don't count out the Lindo! |

Tappy,
I highly reccomend the Lindo..You will be glad you did.. As for the food I simply did not care for much of it.. The buffet I mean.. We only had reservations for 3 of the specialty restraunts.. we had room service 2 times so thats what im basing that on.. As for myself.. I will go back to the Lindo in a second over any where else I have stayed |

Tappy, just got back from the Del Mar side of that resort. I too probably lost some weight while down there, but I believe I was in the minority. I tend not to like uncommon food, but the first few days I actually thought the food was great and it all tasted good. It was just after eating the buffet a couple times the food started looking the same to me and I found myself eating less and less. I did enjoy the ala cartes though (did the medatraning (sp?), mexican, and japanese). Ate room service a couple of times and it did it's job but I didn't think it was anything special. Thought the food was kind of dry.
My wife and son loved the food their though and I know both of them gained some weight ![]() PS: We also ate at Carlos & Charlies in Playa del Carmen. That was probably my favorite meal...I think I had the Charlie's Tacos. I ordered an extra large sprite and it came out in what had to be a 48oz Margarita glass...good for a laugh. Thanks for the info - I know the food does taste a bit different -
I usually do ok as long as I stick to the basics....I really dont go to eat and eat and eat.....as long as the drinks are good ![]() Just wanted to be sure it was "clean" looking and a good selection. |

The beach was very nice....best sand I've ever seen. We had 2 green flag, 3 yellow, and 2 red flag days. There were a good amount of people at the beach, but I wouldn't call it crowded. We aren't morning people, but we always found chairs...just not in the front couple of rows.

Tappy,
there are rocks off of the pier, and a whole lot of fish.. Sure most of them are silver But they are really neat.. If you take your snorkle and mask out a ways you will see colored fish also.. We took bread and fed the fish they gang up on you like crazy.. Not sure if we were allowed to or not but we did any way.. Got great photos and the fish ate right out of our hands ... sometimes leaping a little out of the water..(close to the beach) My children loved it!!! I have posted some photos .. check them out .. If you want to know more private message me and I will be happy to e-mail you photos of the resort... We plan to go back next year... KC |

How did you get upgraded to the Lindo? We are going to the Paraiso Del Mar at the end of this month. Have you ever gone to the other Iberostar resorts to eat? I understand that you have privileges at the 3 resorts (not including the Lindo) - is that true?

Linda,
We were Lucky I guess?? We just went to check in and they asked if we wanted to be up graded...We said yes, and they took us next door.. It is a very very nice resort.. But so is the Del Mar/ Paraiso Beach.. Nice grounds and awesome pool there..Beautiful beach.. As far as eating at the other Iberostars, yes you can. (except the Lindo).. We have been to the Quetzal/Tucan in 2002.. Great resort also, it is in Playa Car. You can go spend a day there if you wish and eat there also..We also have been to the Iberostar cozumel.. If you want to make a day trip there you can do that also.. Take the ferry in PDC Then when you get to Cozumel take a taxi About $15.00 US each way from the port in Cozumel to the Iberostar.. Personally Our entire family was dissapointed with that resort.. If you want to check out the Quetzal/Tucan for the day I would reccomend it.. I will go back to there again. Loved it.. But we also love the Del Mar/ Paraiso beach.. And of course our new favorite is the Lindo.. The Iberostar "Maya" I believe it will be called is to open in Nov. And is said to be nicer than the Lindo..The food however is the same at all of the Iberostars.. Nothing great but not horrible I think it's up to each persons taste.. my son loved it my wife thought it was good for the most part my daughter.. she eats hot dogs pizza & french fries so?? As for my self I did not care a great deal for much of it. That goes for all of the Iberostars we have stayed at.. We have been to Sandals/Beaches resorts (much more exspensive) But we really truly like The Iberostars better!!The kids want to live there!! Have fun and enjoy your trip.. You will love the place.. Ask if they are upgrading it can't hurt all they can say is no, right?? I know the upgraded several families while we were there last month.. Good Luck!! KC |

How true!!!! We had no problem getting pool chairs up front no waits for anything!!! Seemed to us we had the run of the place..We said often how different it will be when the Maya side opens...Which I was told will be in Nov.
