5th Avenue update
Can someone give me an update on the progress on 5th Avenue? Is it complete?
My husband and I were there in May and the main portion of 5th Avenue was in disrepair. We came across the channel on one of the air jets and walked through the square down to Playa Maya. |

5th Street 2 weeks ago
We were in PDC two weeks ago. When we got off the bus there were bulldozers and dump trucks and they were literally digging up the road. By the time we came back from Cozmel, they almost had 3-4 blocks paved with bricks. I would imagine, they are almost done. Unless the horrible weather we had down kept them form working.

Check out this thread About the road work...ugh.... It talks about the work they're doing on La Quinta and has some photos as well.

Hey guys, I really need some serious update on the progress on 5th Avenue. I have friends that are getting married in 3 weeks and very seriously considering Playa for their honeymoon.
The last time my husband and I were there (two months ago), a walk down 5th Avenue from the bus station to TGIF's on a hot humid day would make anyone sick. The smell was ... , well you can imagine. We actually went North one block and then down to La Fortuna (across from the bank). We also actually cut our visit short and went back to Cozumel via the beach to the ferry. The last thing I want is for my friends to go on their honeymoon and hate Playa and 5th Avenue because of the smell and construction. We love the place, but want to go back after the construction is complete. It'll be great. |

Anna, that's great. Thank you for answering me. I can't wait to tell them.
Although they're considering an AI, I'm hoping that maybe they will change their minds and experience the city that Glenn and I love. Our 20 yr old son, expects us to retire to Playa some day and open a bar. How's the beach doing? |
