I see the peace symbol as carrying varying degrees of baggage. Yes, what you say about kooky/hippy, but it also recalls a counter-culture movement that history remembers for stopping another unpopular war
and revolutionizing civil rights as surely as it recalls its other (perhaps more pop, drugs, music) connotations? Just sayin...
