HI Jimmy...
Have you updated your bar list lately? Off the top of my head, Cabalova's is gone, and Captain Dave's is worth mentioning. I've never been there, but we sent some friends down to Playa last May and they pretty much moved betwen the beach, El Oasis, and Captain Dave's.
.It's quite a job keeping up with changes. Every time we go down I have to revise the notebook of info and recommendations we keep in our condo. We work SO HARD checking out the restaurants, beaches, etc. ![]() Thanks for your opinion on the tacos al pastor opinion survey I also was wondering why certain establishments beat out my favorites...but the winners were the ones closer to 5th. How about Mr. Calin -- is that still around? Their ingredients for seafood tacos sounded interesting (octopus in its ink, etc.) We didn't get to try it last time around, but since we're staying in town this time, we were planning to mosey over ... (Juarez, between 35/40th)

Just returned yesterday and here is my opinion: Aca los Tacos was ok, but I much prefer Taqueria el Pastorcito north of Constituyentes on 30th Ave. Aca Los Tacos serves them loaded up with onion, but I believe a piece of pineapple is more traditional.
Viva Margarita does NOT make the best Margarita! They are overpriced, and La Ranita or Tequila Barrel or mostly anywhere makes them better. Pummarola makes a good pizza for a good price. Happy tasting! |

Magdalena's Grillhouse
This is a fairly new restaurant owned by Wendy & Robyn Day from Alberta,Canada. We just returned from Playa Nov.20th and had breakfast & dinner here several times. The food is fresh,well-prepared and very good.Robyn's frozen Margaritas are the best in Playa(imho)The music is great and this mother & daughter team will make you feel soooo welcome.Give it a try!Located at 1st ave & 26th street(just north of the Porto Real)Tell them Necie said Hola!

I also highly recommend Magdalena's. I have eaten there three times - once for lunch and twice for dinner. Each time the food has been delicious. The menu changes daily, and they are closed on Mondays and from 2-5:30 every other day for siesta.
