We just returned from 5 days in San Fran. Stayed at the
Monticello Inn at Union Square and about a block and a half from Market Street. Boutique hotel similar to the Chancellor and only a couple of blocks separates the two. Rooms had AC which was nice as the window opened, but since it faced the courtyard tough to get much of the breeze. Every afternoon from 5 - 6 pm they have wine and bread free in the library. Free continental breakfast with apples, bananas, croissants and other pastries, plus Starbucks coffee.
We had a room with King Bed (man was it comfy!). Nothing fancy, but very clean. Different days had different prices, but our stay averaged $125/night. We will return to the Monticello.
Enjoy your stay, so many things to do in and around the city. If you are considering a car, mass transit options are plenty and parking is expensive!
I'll post a report here soon.
