Cosmo is also correct when he says that Nixon did not end the war the people did. He forgot to mention those same people helped end the lives of 10s of thousands.
History will repeat itself & I will yell just as loudly when we pull out of Iraq & thousansds die as I did when we left the Vietnamese, Cambodians, & Laotians behind to fend for themselves 30+ years ago.

The longer this war drags on, the more ppl will die, both American and Iraqis. When will it be a good time to leave? 10, 20, 30 years from now? Regardless of when we leave, those ppl will be left behind to fend for themselves. There has never been a clear objective, actually, there has never been any objective at all. That country will have it's own civil war, implode and start from scratch. They don't want our democracy, and they don't want us there. We can only shove it down their throat for so long. Nobody has succeeded at changing any of those countries and I doubt anyone ever will. It has been out of our hands for years now and nobody wants to see it. No American live is worth losing there. The very ppl we are training to fight are the ones shooting at our boys. Whatever lesson we wanted to teach them I'm sure they got it when Saddam was captured. The rest has been nothing but a waste of good American lives who should have not died. They should be with their families having a bbq and teaching their young to play foot ball. History has already repeated itself, all you have to do is look back and see what has been accomplished and what has been gained.
