Howz about the commutes that will NOT happen July 26-29?? (for you non-locals, the Democratic National Convention is coming to Boston and security is going to wreak havoc on everything nearby, essentially shutting down major routes in and around the city)

Luckily I live in Weymouth and work in Braintree, so no problemo for me.

What's your plan for that week?? You work in Boston, right?

Geeeez.... it's gonna make the Big Dig hassles look like a tire-changer in the breakdown lane.....

Apparently, I am considered emergency personell. I am supposed to carry my Hospital ID with me "at all times" so that I am "prepared to respond" to any "disaster which may occur" in conjunction with the DNC. I guess it is a free pass through the road blocks.

Ya, right! As soon as I see the hospital phone number on my caller ID, I turn it off. The last place you want to be if there is a major disaster is an emergency room! If such ever occurs in this area, my plans include ----> and ------>

Plus, according to US Defense Department Analysts, in the event of another major attack on US soil, the second safest place to go on earth will be PDC. The absolute safest place is reported to be the arctic. I'll be following the roamin' gnome to PDC, and you?

I'll be on Route 24 headed to Green in Providence to catch the last plane out - southbound to Playa, of course!

Or.... curled up in the fetal position under my bed with a flashlight, my photo album from our last trip to PdC, and a bottle of tequila!

YAY! You're so very welcome!! So glad to hear you enjoyed Dzul-Ha! What a funky beach/bar/grill it is! Can't wait to again park my butt under that palapa (the one in front to the left of the flagpole is where we were) and enjoy the view and the fish and the pina coladas.........

David said the salsa they served there was the freshest and best he's ever tasted. Who'da thunk it?! :p

We had shrimp quesadillas - delicious! And garlic grilled shrimp too. After snorkeling, we took a dip in the little pool to get the salt water off - it was cute and scenic - heaven!! I could have stayed there all day, but we had those mopeds and wanted to drive around the island and of course, teenagers get impatient.... speaking of teenagers, I will still have to write a trip report on the experience traveling with 2 teenage girls with major attitude!

You don't have to be in Boston to have a silly (sick) sense of humor. I think we need a show of hands for all of us who's first reponse to the post was "swim"!

Agreed. But just having an idea is not enough, you have to ACT on it before anyone else if you want the glory. Up here in Boston, that is our forte.

A bostonian will always be first to cut you off; first to give you the finger; first to go through the light before it actually is green; first to bash your brains in for cutting HIM off; the first person to finish shaving and/or applying makeup while commuting at 65MPH on route 128; and the first person featured in the Guiness World Book of Records for having the most DUI's and retaining a drivers license.

Sounds a lot like drivers in Mexico City, though.
Instead of the finger you get a salute to your mother; some people go throug red ligth without slowing down nor checking if there is traffic coming in the intersection; if you cut somebody you get a very "musical" salute; in that department you win, I haven't seen guys shaving, just girls applying makeup at 81mph in the freeway; we don't care about tickets in this city.

Have fun.

Frank:

I hope you don't have your heart set on that part-time job at the "Welcome to Boston" booth next to Fanueil Hall!

C'mon, Frank! We're not all that bad, are we??? We can be nice, friendly folk. If we're in the mood. And the moon is in Libra and Mars is aligned with Pluto. And the wind is coming from the south/southwest. And the pollen count is low. And we didn't miss last night's rerun of "Cheers". And the Sox are winning. And the Pats did good in the draft. And it's a Tuesday in August between 1:15 PM and 1:25 PM.
