lagoon

Just a little north of the entrance to Akumal is Xa Kul (SP?). Used to be an old Mayan guy with a young wife and children that would let you park in his yard and rent you snorkling equipment and give you access from his property at the very end of the lagoon. Haven't been there for awhile and you deffinetly need someone who knows to find it. I can, but it takes a few trips around to recognize his driveway. This is the type of information you get from the locals when you hang at the Beer Bucket.

Laguna Bacalar a few hours south of PDC is the most beautiful and best swimming hole in the hemisphere. See my iBlog: Wordpix: A Photoblog at http://www.homepage.mac.com/donfranc...log/index.html BUT the tranquil little village we moved to 6 years ago is changing fast with the new highway from the north. 2 nights ago robbers (the same ones as 8 months ago) came back to open my stongbox. Failed. Found us asleep on our twin couches and cut the wallet out of my pants as I slept. I should have awoken but then...Anyway Bacalar is no longer quiet and tranquil. The story will be on my Blog as soon as Prodigy, the only internet server in Chetumal fully works again, [i]maņana or was it next week? So swim but be very careful in little villages just like in PDC or Cancun.
