My name's Anne. Caramba is my cat's name, plus it's just fun to say.
Caramba is also a very lucky (and expensive) cat, as she was hit by a car around July 3rd or 4th and miraculously dragged herself into our yard minutes before we left for work on July 6th. She was severely dehydrated and had lost alot of blood due to a major laceration on her jaw that was very infected. She had to have iv fluids for a couple days and a blood transfusion but is resting comfortably at home now recovering from skull and jaw fractures. She's still cute though, despite all the stitches...good thing cats have 9 lives!
I have been too lazy to pick an avatar, but plan to sometime, as well as re-load all my pics into the new multimedia section.

My Real name is John, and Critter is short for Critterman. Years ago (98) I started modifying animated gifs with posters names of several boards as a reward for trip reports, I probably have 50 myself and have done 500 or so for others.

I also have a houseful of Critters (pets) as at one time both daughters worked at vets and no animal was allowed to go to the pound. My first Critter those many years ago - <img src=http://cablespeed.com/~mccljp/critters/john.gif>

Anne (a/k/a Caramba):

Poor kitty!! But lucky kitty, as you say!! So glad to hear she's going to be okay!! I know about cats and $$... a few years ago, I spent $1,400 for exploratory surgery on my cat, Gizmo, only to discover she had inoperable (fatal) intestinal cancer. She had another good two years after that, thanks to daily doses of steriods for pain and to stimulate her appetite. I figured: I don't have kids, so I can afford to spend it on my cats (aka my "kidz"). It was $$ well spent.

Ditto! I've been through acupuncture and medicinal mushrooms (no, not that kind...) for my 7 year old lab who had cancer, and all sorts of other stuff with my pets. At least Ramses (my present dog) is healthy.

Marie is my middle name, which is usually the name I use online because I don't like my first name, and because it helps me maintain some small sense of mystery. The Sun fit in with the theme of the forum...the Knee was kind of a pun (Sunny/SunKnee-- yeah, yeah, I know) and kind of a shot at myself for having really skinny legs (coastal water birds got nuthin' on me). But it's a happy sounding moniker....

I have no avatar because I don't know how to have an avatar... I don't think I even had a working knowledge of the word "avatar" before I found this board. Even now it has a vaguely space-movie sound to it: "Captain, the avatar reading shows increased levels of radiation."

And that's about it....

Marie:

I love your name!! It's fun!

If you want me to try to walk you through the avatar-loading deal, drop me a PM. My first avatar-loading experience was here, so I can relate to the confusion of it all.

Love the Star Trek reference!
