Member Name Secrets
OK - I don't know how many of you are willing to divulge the secrets of your chosen "member" name and real name, but, here goes for me:
Real Name: Adam Member Name: local8 Reason: My favorite movie of all time is called Local Hero (1983). When I first started my online life in 1998, I wanted to have an e-mail address of localhero @ whatever e-mail service i was going to use, but it had already been taken (probably by police or fire person). First available was localhero8. After surfing around the net and having to supply user names, I just decided to sometimes shorten to local8, so as not to keep getting the question what kind of hero are you, which, after 9/11 was repeatedly asked since i live in NYC. That's it for me...any takers? (for example - I know nerak936 is for karen spelled backwards - but whats the 936 for?) |

All-right, I"ll bite.
I've been going as "Ginger" on various message boards on the 'net for about six years. I originally used my name, but then got some weirdo that started emailing me, and got real psycho on me when I told him to stop. At that point I decied to choose a moniker. I chose "Ginger" because that was my chosen name at birth by my mother. Something to do with my flock of red hair. It was my name for two months until my absent father came into the picture for a long enough time to put a stop to the insanity and name me Leasa. I guess I have THAT to thank him for, at the very least! So that's it. Now you know the real me. I feel so exposed........... |

This could be a pretty straight forward thread.
Real Name: John User Name: jtm1631 Reason: No creativity what so ever! My initials and an old address. Easy to remember, even for a guy like me. I bet I know how Tommy and James came up with their member names. Now let me add something. How did you choose your avatar? Avatar choice: Crush from Finding Nemo. Love Disney, Love Pixar movies and this "surfer" turtle is everything I want to be, care free and cool. JT |

I have so many user names...must be an identiy crisis !!!!
![]() One of my user names is LostSol (think that is kinda neat) on another travel board....but If I changed it on this board no one would know me anymore ![]() Besides I have gotten used to Tappy. Tappy is just a nickname (TAP = intials) - I sort of like it now, kind of fits !!! The three dolphins stand for me, hubby, child (I just thought it was a cool pic actually) , but I think this answer is more poetic !!!! Name - Tammy (ok no jokes about the TV show/song, yes it is what my mother named me after)...she was delirious after having 4 sons back to back !!!! |

Talk about idenity crisis...
Well, I started out on the board as ScottM. First name last initial. I didn't expect to be a regular, let alone a "Senior Member" (no member jokes now). After I became more active, I wanted to be anonymous - just out of general internet security concerns, so I asked James to change my name. Some of the "older" members (no member jokes please) may remember the poll set up by James. [Click HERE to see thread.] By a vote of 14 to 4 my name was changed to Beachwolverine. Although I've been accused of being an X-man geek (where is DavidB anyway?), the name comes from my alma mater the University of Michigan. I'm a big U of M wolverine fan. The beach part is obvious and I just thought they sounded good together. And please remember, that is sand in my avatar, not snow.

Real Names: Bob & Jackie (No secret there. It's in the signature)
User Name:Bumper and Mrs. Bumper (Though she doesn't read or post on this forum, I told her I thought she should have her own, more unique moniker - I put forward the notion of "Bumperette". She muttered something about the front end of a '58 Edsel, gave me a slap up side the head, suggested I was was brain dead, based on the amount of time I spend on this board, so I dropped the subject. Hey, I've been married 30 years, and am pretty thoroughly trained by now.) The nickname Bumper comes from a long time ago. I used to be quite a dancer. Those of you who have met me may find that hard to believe, but it's true. What I lacked in talent, I made up for with enthusiasm and energy. There was a dance called the Bump, way back in the disco era of the late 70's/early 80's. I excelled (could have taught John Revolting a few things!) A couple of my dancing partners - I danced with everybody, not just Mrs. B - took to calling me Bumper. The rest is history. By the way, this information would have cost you a Don Julio last year, during our trip to PDC, but it's a freebie this time around. The avatar?? I should think that would be obvious. I have been known to make the occasional joke, and try to inject a little humour here and there. Sometimes successfully, often not, but I make the effort. Though most of us would call the character a "jester" - that's the name most commonly used these days - it is more correctly a "fool", the name applied in the royal courts where he generally performed his duties. His job, considered an honourable calling, was to lighten the tone in what could otherwise be a somber and serious environment. The name "fool" has taken on a rather unfortunate and negative twist in recent history, so I guess I'll settle for jester. There you go. More than you wanted to know about the Bumper. |
