Im so tired and still have to pack for tomorrow, but I want to thank you Heather for posting this and hope people will not stop the help, Red Cross Playa del carmen has very little funds, to cover the needs of Playa and Riviera Maya, we are trying to open a much needed station in Tulum, We need a hospital, paramedics, training and lot more.
I am speaking only as a volunteer, I am not an official representative, but volunteer 16 hours a week there trying to offer the best possible response stretching every penny. The administrators of this delegation are luckyly very honest that is why I wear the uniform proudly.
The help we are giving the Costa Maya as a playa info luna blue volunteer dean team is sooooo needed, Relief international organizations can come in and the only thing that will happen is to open yet another channel of funds to come in where they are so desperately needed
So far they have offered us their guidance in and help with assembling the kits, the discounts they get as red cross their content and the information regarding the survey they made to study the best way to help the area. You have to consider that Costa Maya was not the area who had more victims there were 8 people dead, land slides, Im horrified to imagine how the other areas look if this was not the one that suffered the most damage. there are communities like tres monos, with very poor maya people that left a lot of people homeless too.
I recieved mails talking about sending down containers of donations, and this is an area where Red Cross Playa can help with clearing them through costums and as long as the help is marked to go to costa maya it will go to costa maya.
They will work with the corporations that only trust an organization to do this, and the help will get to the people that need it, the more the merrier. I am so gratefull to playa info and the peeps for what you are doing, Kevin is refering all the people wanting to send help to us, and people are seeing how the help is getting to the most needy, we will continue driving convoys as long as we can and as long as there are goods to be transported, Red Cross Playa will just accept and deliver donations too to do their own relif effort, Im willing to assist both and we are willing to work together, important is that the help gets there.
Kevin Graham has been truly a blessing to the community, he has called for help and the playa peeps are responding I am proud to be a part of this effort. Please keep the help coming people are so gratefull. On a personal note, I dont think any of the volunteers that have made this trips have not shed a tear frustrated and powerless to fix all that is wrong, all the distruction and dispair. We need you to help us help them.
Im sorry my pm is full, but I am overwhelmed with all the work and all the calls, please write to any of the volunteers, no one is better than all of us together.
I will be leaving in the convoy tomorrow and staying for a few days again, I thank you so much for the opportunity to help mahahual and costa maya. It is indeed the experience of a lifetime 2 more EMTs are comming along with an ambulance and staying there with me, this time we have a lot more work to do.
gracias
