Oh no ..... 50's not old. I'll admit, it used to be. But not anymore!!

It's De Ja Vu all over again, except it's me not my dad asking "what the hell is that noise" I have to agree with nerak & deedlebug on this one, if it aint the Beatles or some other 60's-70's band it's not music, & 50 isn't old anymore (or 55) for that matter

Okay, okay, okay. Sorry if I got this off on a tangent (like that's never happened before), but it certainly wasn't my intention to put a knock n techno-trance music. I just don't know what it is. I'm ignorant, and I can prove it. Like most folks, I suspect, I tend to listen to the same radio stations all the time. It's habit as much as anything, and I think we all lean towards stations that play the kind of music we're most comfortable with. Until this question was posed, I have to admit I'd never heard the term techno-trance music. What's it like? Who are its proponents? Does it have any flagship bands/groups that would be good to listen to in order to see what it's all about? I might even like it, but who knows. To be honest, the station I frequent the most promotes itself with the tag line "Best of the 80's, 90's and whatever." Personally, I don't think there has been a lot to admire in the world of music since the 60's and 70's, but the size of this market isn't large enough to support a station that exclusively features that era. I try to keep as open a mind as I can. Sure I'm "old" by a lot of people's definition, but I'm not dead, so go ahead people...introduce me to the world of techno-trance. I think some of the problem might be the name. Techno-trance sounds like something they're flogging on an infommercial by Ronco. As for whether 50, or even 55, is "old"...it can be, if you let it. Sort of goes back to that old question we all asked when we were younger, "Who wants to be 55?" The answer, of course, is somebody who's 54.

Tom,
You put into words exactly how I feel. Thanks Bro!

Bumper,
I agree with everything you said.

I'm an old rocker at heart (not really old - just an expression!) but I do enjoy techno / trance music. I have been listening almost exclusively to t/t for the last couple of years.
The "groups" are really DJ's who remix mostly others material in a way that completely changes the sound and type of songs that they are. Music is mostly fast paced with a good rhythmic beat - good to work by, good to dance by. This music is international. The top DJ's travel and play at clubs and radio shows all over the world. This music is more popular in Europe than in US at this time.

Some of the top DJ's are Paul Oakenfold, Armin Van Buuren, and Tiesto. Some examples are found on www.tranceaddict.com

Thanks to everyone for the responses. This thread has generated more interest than I expected.

I would think the answer to that question might also be someone who is 65!

You're correct, Scotty, I have to admit I wasn't familiar with this particular performer. Sheltered existence, I guess. I understand she is a young lady of dusken persuasion. I asked around among the other inhabitants of the office - primarily males. One chap drooled, another got a glazed expression, several smiled knowingly, one just grinned and chuckled, and another muttered, "Decorative, very decorative." None of them were able, however, to advance an opinion on her musical abilities - apparently, they were distracted - though they all had something to say about her physical attributes. Sound like the right girl?

Yep, sounds like the right chicky... she does have musical abilities, it's just that they are overwhelmed by her physical.... abilities. But actually, she's just another run of the mill Texas girl... life is just too hard down here
