Brithdays in Playa
Hi everyone...
Love these forums. So helpful when looking for information. Does anyone know anything about celebrating birthdays there? My daughter will be turning the "double uno" (11) when we're there and was just wondering if I'm able to arrange something special. Not a party or anything big....but maybe a small cake with candles and some flowers. I've tried putting different words in the search area to see if the subject was already discussed...but couldn't seem to find anything. Would really appreciate any info. Thank you... Michelle |

I've never been to PDC but I'm having a wild stab in the dark by saying that I think your hotel may be able to provide you with a cake, or whatever restaurant you go to to celebrate. Why not bring some candles yourself just in case?

Since we are moving down in November, my children will both be celebrating their birthdays there. They are December and January. At first they were upset by this, not having their friends around to have a big bash at the bowling alley, or lazer tag, or wherever they usually have their party at, but now we have them really looking forward to bashing in a piņata...
Next we break it to them about the Christmas tree and decorations.....

My youngest daughter will be celebrating her 3rd birthday in PDC on Sunday so we will be arranging something small for her as well. As everyone has indicated I am sure your hotel can help you or you will be able to find a bakery in town.
If you are going to be in PDC after we get back on the 13th of August, I can let you know what we did for her birthday to give you some ideas. Hey James, they have candles in PDC? Is there no end to the build-up of the area?

Not sure what you would like to do, but how about getting dressed up in one of those pretty white and embroidered dresses you can buy down there, get a tres leches cake, have mariachis serenade your daughter with a festive Feliz cumpleanos, then have fun breaking cascarones (decorated eggs filled with confetti). I think that would be memorable, do the pinata too (although personally I'm always fearful of a blindfolded person with a stick). We're going for my husbands 40th, to celebrate we'll snorkel in a cenote, followed by a massage on the beach, and I'll try to get a cake for dinner. Have fun!!

Thanks....
Wow....thanks!! Great ideas. We're not going until May, so I have plenty of time to plan. I'd appreciate whatever you tell me jtm1631. We're both so excited! First "mother/daughter" trip. These forums have been great as far as hotels and things to do. I'll keep an eye on here. Thanks again for the help!!
