PDC in August.....

Hello all....

I was wondering if Playa Del Carmen is really busy during the month of August?

I went in August years ago and it wasn't very crowded. Of course, the town is more crowded now than it used to be, but August is considered one of the off-season months. The most crowded months are during the winter. Have fun!

Nope...tis busy THIS August. Many of the hotels are operating at 100% occupancy. Summer is the 2nd busiest time for travel to PDC.
Plan on seeing a whole bunch o' people!

So does that mean over booking at the nortious over booking hotels will be an issue in August as it is the high season??

We will be there 8/21 - 8/28. I am confident it will be absolutely perfect weather that week!

It should slow down a bit at the end of August, since all the kids are back in school

Actually, August has been considered high season for years now, due to all the Italians and other Europeans coming in (you'll see a LOT of Invicta backpacks and handsome men in banana hammocks walking around town). The last couple of years the North Americans have started to come in August too, so there's more of a mix.

banana hammock or vienna sauasage hammock. Knew a guy who got arrested wearing one--apparently there is a front and back to those.
