Site suggestion...

First of all, this is our last evening in PDC and have really enjoyed our trip. The weather was excellent and the food and entertainment was great!

I have been using this website ever since we began planning our trip and the one thing that I never expected and never looked into was what to do in PDC in case of a medical emergency.

Yesterday, my 10 year old daughter fell from the TOP of the ladder that leads up and down the third story loft, straight down - I was horrified, we all were. First of all, she knew better than to use the ladder because it was off limits, but kids will be kids and i was in another part of the house and did not know what she was doing until i heard the blood curdling screams from everyone. To make a long story short she landed horribly and injured her leg & her ankle -- it was not a pleasant sight. I about lost it.....

Luckily, the housekeeper was here to guide us to the nearest local hospital. She was a Godsend. My daughter is doing better and thank God we were able to get her there quickly. I know that Cancun and Cozumel have hospitals, but what happens when you can not get there in time or do not have the transportation available at a moments notice?

The local red cross clinic sent us to a PDC hospital right away where they were able to stabilize her leg and ankle until we can get home. Another unfortunate circumstance is we flew on a charter and were not able to go home a day early, so we have her resting for now. We will definitely get her reexamined once we arrive home.

My suggestion for this site would be to place a possible link to local medical emergency information. Something you could link to quickly just in case or to print prior to the trip. We have been able to visit this site the entire length of our trip for restaurant, hotel, and tour info...er info would have been real handy. Anyway, just a suggestion.

Thanks for making our trip more enjoyable, despite our unfortunate ending.

Carey

Oh, how awful!! She must have been terrified. I have three wild ones of my own and can imagine how you must have felt in a strange place. Our thoughts and well wishes go out to you and your family. Good luck on the trip back.
(Too bad she's too young for tequilla...kidding)

Send a message via Skype™ to Mikey
Maybe a first aid Icon that you could click and it would give you the info you need.

Your Site Suggestion is a Good One

txblue35 ~ So sorry to hear about your daughter's injury! I'm glad that the local doctors were able to get her stabilized. I think your suggestion of a link here to print out before going to Playa or to access immediately once you're there is a great idea. I hope that everything turns out OK once you get back to the states and that there won't be any long term problems.....
