Las Vegas Info
I am going to fly out to Las Vegas for a cousins wedding later this year.
Can any one give me some good ideas of places to stay ??? or shows to see ? Celine Dion ? Worth the price of the ticket ??? (keeping in mind I will have my 10 year old with me) ...looking at the Venetian or Mandalay Bay ??? But they are kinda high $...want some place on the strip, but some place lots of fun. (things to see/do) What about a day trip to the Grand Canyon ? Does any one know an online site for boking Vegas vacation packages ???? Any insight or advice will be appreciated.... |

Tappy..Madalay Bay has a great Beach like pool.....Also it is one of the nicest Hotels around...The Venetian is Huge and different....I also like the Luxor for some reason...I would think you would want something with an outdoor area to play in as your son wont be playing any slots! The grand canyon is not to be missed but can eat up a whole day....If you can get tickets I would try and see one of the Cirque du Soleil shows....Celine Dion for a ten year old????
A good online site is Funjet!!! |

Flamingo has a fantastic pool for a 10 year old, or anyone for that matter. The Luxor makes me woozy with those awful inclinators and I always get lost in there, sorry Tommy!! Cirque du Soleil for sure!!

My favorite is Treasure Island. Although my kids are older I think it would be good for younger kids as well. Really nice pool. EFX is a great show if it is still running. I loved it! Good show for kids as well. If your daughter is into roller coasters check out New York, New York. And definitely try to eat at the Alldin buffet. A little pricier than most but well worth it.

Celine IS worth the price...
Also check out "O" and "Mystere" from Cirque...GREAT shows... Bellagio suites are really nice...great yogurt with granola topping...their own recipe Mandalay Bay IS nice because it, along with Caesar's Palace has a "European" section...Spent all day at the pool at each, also Luxor...and the Trop... But if I were to go today...right now...my choice would be the Hard Rock - because I haven't been or stayed there... My brother always stays at The Flamingo for sone reason... I LOVE the Prince tribute at The Boardwalk...Purple Reign... |

Thanks for the info - I got Shammy checking onto some packages for me....looks like so many neat places to stay...
Flamingo does looks nice, with the big pool...and it seems to price out better as well.... and I love the look of the Luxor.. My little girl loves Celine (so do I) - I would love to see her, she also loves Prince to, so I am sure she would want to see his tribute...so thanks for letting me know about that....she loves music, so I do want to take her to see some one (she saw Cher last year and just loved it) No roller costers cause that means I gotta ride them to (no way no how) Avalon what is an inclinator ???? How easy is it to get around Vegas now that they go the monorail going... ??? I just wish Siegfreid and Roy were still at the Mirage.... I would have loved to take Gracie to see that show !!!

We've stayed at the Flamingo which happens to be the first hotel ever built in Vegas. Close friends of ours got married in the wedding chapel there 3 years ago and had the reception upstairs in one of the ballrooms. It's an older hotel so it's nothing like the other hotels on the strip. The rooms are nothing special. But the pool area is great and is considered to be one of the best pools in Vegas. It's got a great waterslide too. We liked that fact that the Flamingo is midstrip so you're in the middle of everything and it's easy to walk most places from there.... that's assuming you can find your way out of the casino.

The Flamingo has of course been rebuilt since the original...nice though...
The Prince show is pretty late...and VERY early Prince, if you know what I mean... There's so much to see and do...The Fremont Street Experience is a must-see too in my book... I love Vegas. |

Vegas Monorail
Is the monorail really running? We were there at the end of June and the locals were speculating it wouldn't be running until November. Many problems.
Used to be the Mob ran Vegas, now it's the Quebecers! Three Cirque shows and Celine on the Strip!
