If you do a search on this site, you will find many positive comments on Tortuga. I recommend giving it a try. Also, I don't know of any other hotel with a jacuzzi on the rooftop terrace. I'd say you've found your hotel.

Just back from La Tortuga
I just got back from staing a week at Hotel La Tortuga.
I was great!! It is a small hotel, with a beautiful pool, around the corner from all the restaurants and stores, but still has a very quite atmosfere. We booked our tour to Chichen-Itza through them and I recemmend it, although more expensive than what's offered elsewhere, it is worth the money. You'll have free access to Mamita's Beach Club (but unless you get there before 11AM, there will be no palapas available, and you do not want to be at the beach without a palapa or beach umbrella, believe me), beach towells every day. Breakfast is good. |

We just got back last night from PDC and while we did not stay at La Tortuga we went by there for future reference. It looked great and the location is perfect for experiencing all the fun on 5th street and only hop skip and away to the beach. Another hotel that has a roof top pool and jacuzzi is Hotel Sacbe. More pricy then La Tortuga but worth a look depending on your budget. Not all the rooms have a terrace so you have to see if the one or two that do are available for your dates. I don't think you will be dissapointed at all with La Tortuga unless you are wanting something right on the beach. If you are I would recommend Playa Maya. Let us know how it goes!

I stayed at La Tortuga in March....my first trip to Playa.
Stayed in a STANDARD PLUS room. Ask for one overlooking the pool so it's quieter. The street side rooms are noisy at night. Loved the hotel....rooms VERY clean...pleasant helpful staff....close to everything (shopping, restaurants, internet cafes, convenient stores, laundromat, etc) Free breakfast included at the restaurant. Or stop at HOT ! Baking Company (right around the corner) while on your way to Mamitas Beach Club and grab a coffee or juice and a cinnamon roll to go. Yummy ! I also used their transportation from Cancun aiport to the hotel and back again. No problems at all. They were waiting at the airport with a sign with my name on it. Went in a large van with another couple to the hotel and went back to the airport in a nice car. Would use this service again. I would definitely stay at La Tortuga again. |
