Least Expensive Car Rental ?

Greetings,
I'm heading down to Cancun and then to the Playa area. I know this is a Playa site, but was wondering if anyone knew a decent (and cheap) car rental place at Cancun airport where I can just pick one up. Looking to rent for one week. Do I need a car with airconditioning? I do need some room for , say, two large suitcases. One last question: Is theft common at all from rental cars? In other words, is my stuff fairly safe in the car when I'm out walking/exploring around? I imagine this topic's been covered, but any updated help is appreciated. Thanks.

Check all the usual American names on line and include Executive as this is the Mexican company that can sometimes get overlooked. I'd go with the least expensive one as they are all very close in service and vehicle quality.

I rent from who ever is cheapest (I used to rent, but I have my own SUV in Playa these days). I also use the platinum VISA insurance to save money. Do a search there is a lot of posts on these subjects. You can also get the bus into town and pick up your car in Playa. A good option as the bus is cheap and easier if you have a lot of luggage. By doing pick up and drop of in town you can shave down your rental car days to the minimum and save even more money.
