Make a quick trip to Wal-Mart when you get there and buy a small can of WD-40 & "canned-air". After washing out your reels with fresh water spray them with WD-40 & then remove the excess with the "canned-air". Remember to use liberally - you want to make sure all sand & salt water residue is removed...Plus I don't think the airlines would like you having either of these in your luggage...
It's amazing how salt water & a few grains of sand will ruin a reel in no time at all...
