question for shammy
Hi Shammy,
We are looking to book a large group of people for May 05. Probably at least 20 adults, but my travel agent says that the group prices aren't in yet. We would be flying out of Pittsburgh. Are you able to find any prices for us. We were thinking of staying at the Iberostar Tucan. |

I'm backkkkkkkkkkk!
Well, group pricing is in but what might NOT be in is the prices for the charter flights. To get a "real" group rates, yawl have to start and end at the same place, same length of stay, etc and the true benifits are had when you utilize a charter flight, which are indeed available from PIT. And a quick check tells me that the charter flights for May are NOT in yet. They are available up until 4/21 only at this time. I really don't know when I'll see them come out....and I never get a straight answer to this question either.

Thanks Shammy, I guess that is what my travel agent was telling me. The charter flight prices aren't in yet! How frustrating. Now we are thiking of going in late January or February. That is the time to get out of Pennsylvania!

Hey people, remember Shammy is a travel agent. She is extremely generous with her time and knowledge on this and the other board. But she also does this for a LIVING. So rather than milking her for her knowledge then booking elsewhere just contact her through the Lone Palm Travel site. I've been surfing this board for nearly a year and have seen nothing but rave reviews from all over the US for how she treats her clients. I've told her before that she should open a travel agency in Canada, but of course she can't. I do use a travel agent here in Canada but use the web to educate myself as to what some of the discount agencies are charging. But that's public domain. Then go to the t.a. and ask her to get close. Not beat, but just close, she has to make a living to. Had a travel agent for the past 17 years who is a friend and when I booked to PDC last year gave him a $ number and where I'd found it. He met it. Asked him if he could have beat it and he just smiled and said maybe. (Discovered later another site that was less than I paid). Changed travel agents this year.

Hey jobob...thanks my friend! I do so appreciate ALL of your comments. But honestly, I don't mind handing out whatever info or help that I can. I don't always have a lot of time, especially right now since I just returned home from vaca and have almost 200 e mails to sift through.
And that's pretty much what I'm here for, to help out as best as I can, however that may be. It's a fact of life, people will book their trips with whomever they want...or do it themselves. But like I said, I'm not here to solicit business, I'm here for answers or advice or opinions or all of the above, whether you have your own agent (who might not know as much about the area as I do) or not.If I had a buck for every trip I priced yet did not book, well...I'd OWN a resort in the Mayan Riviera by now! But I do appreciate you coming to my rescue! *hugs* Anyway, densyml... your agent is right. Those charter prices are not out yet. They are however out for Jan/Feb. birdman...no charters from Seattle, sorry. I have quite a few Seattle clients and it's always REALLY tough to get them a good deal on air. Besides Alaska, you might want to look into Frontier (am I right about this..brain death has set in!) and I know America West has some good pricing from there too, about $500 now I believe. |
