Our honeymoon trip to Maui, it was wonderful! We love the culture and the beauty of Maui. We would go back in a minute!
We got married on September 22, 2007. We had a wonderful day, we really could not have asked for it to go any better.
We started our trip with an evening in Chicago. We thought it would be nice to take an easy day (3:30pm flight) after the wedding. So we headed to Chi-town for a nice dinner and gear up for our trip to Maui. We went to one of our favorite restaurants Cocopazzo. We love it there. I am sorry I don’t have any pictures of the food, we were taking it easy, but every time we go there it is fantastic. So a few cocktails on Rush street and little football at ESPN Zone and we are off to bed…early flight next morning
Monday September 24th
Had a 6:30am flight from Chicago to Maui with a short stop in Oakland. Uneventful flight, but here are a few pics for you:
We landed in Maui about 1:30pm (go time change!) picked up our rental car and we are off to the Hyatt. Should have taken a picture of our car… we got a convertible Mustang-it was fun! I highly suggest renting a convertible if you go to Maui.
After a short and scenic 45 minute drive into Kaanapali and we arrive at the Hyatt Resort and Spa. We are greeted with leis and immediately are amazed at the beautiful grounds of the Hyatt! Probably one of the nicest hotels we have been to.
We had a partial ocen view and a view of the mountains
Josh spotted our first rainbow from our balcony: We saw at least one everyday
Our room was great and nicely decorated
Some of the Hyatt Grounds:
After some refreshing we realize we probably should take a short nap-but forget it-we are in Hawaii and need to go explore immediately! We head out to get our first meal in Maui. We walk down the beautiful path along the Ocean-WOW it is beautiful here!!!
First stop is the Hula Grill which would be one of our favorite spots. It is right on the water in Whaler’s Village on Kaanapali Beach. A beautiful strip of beach where we will be staying for the next 11 days!! We keep saying “we are in Hawaii!” It has been quite the whirlwind after getting married and all the hype leading up to it… Kinda seems surreal at the moment
.
Our first drink at the Hula Grill: Mai Tai and a Hawaiian mango tini-delish!
Our Dinner:
I had the ceviche to start, it was very tasty, they added a bit of coconut milk which added a nice richness against the lime juice. I will have to try that next time I make ceviche at home
.
I also had a mahi-mahi sandwich with some Asian slaw that was so fresh and yummy:
.
Josh ate his fish and chips, which were fabulous- so fabulous I guess we forgot to take a picture!
We walked around a little more, but called it an early night…more coming up!!
